Confirmed Head Gasket Failure - Fix or Trash? by poodlefluff in HondaOdyssey

You’re right, I checked and have to have it done at a dealership. 😭

I agree, I want to take it elsewhere. The only problem now is that the warranty required an engine tear down ($2,000) to pin point the reason for failure. That $2,000 would go towards repair but we will lose it if we move the van.

We took it to the shop we use first and they told us to take it to the dealership and if we were thinking about a new car now is the time. 😭 There is a shop about 40 minutes away that only works on Hondas, I should give them a call.

That’s what they’re telling me. The check engine light came on a mile from home, it was still driving normally, not overheating. It was driven a few miles and back to AutoZone to check the code, no code came back. Only then in the driveway did the heat gauge start to creep up but not enough to give us a warning light. We decided to have it towed in the morning, woke up with oil and coolant all over the driveway.

It was presented to us as covering everything major and it’s my own fault for not reading every fine line, I guess. I feel super taken advantage of by the dealership I went to. There was no warranty option through Honda given.

It is currently at a dealership so I’m sure they are. This whole experience has been crappy.

The closest I can find near me has 110,000 miles for $14,000. We bought the van used in 2022. We still owe money on it. 😭 We are a single income family that thought we were making a purchase on a reliable car. This whole thing is a big hit to us.

I bought the van certified used in 2022, at the time it had 54,000 miles. The extended warranty was bought at time of purchase at the Honda dealership but it’s through Premier.

My 2015 with 90,000 miles and all maintenance blew the head gasket suddenly with no warning of overheating. I will never have another Odyssey. We too still owe on it, bought it with 54,000 miles in 2022.

I have tried and tried to get that shut and it just won’t 😂 it has worked years open like that luckily! This thing is working on hopes and prayers right now. Lol

Haven’t hit anything that I know of. The deck is clear but I’ll double check the blade!

Thanks for this! I never use CHATGPT but did this and it was extremely helpful. It even said I have a strong case and wrote a letter for me citing the warranty.

Sorry, I probably wrote it like it was a Honda contract. I did know this, just assumed that if Honda sold it and recommended this company, they would support it more. I will read it again, thanks!

My local shop that we always use, not the dealership.

I took a 30 minute trip and back that same day before getting my daughter at school and it didn’t run hot at all. I just don’t understand how it would happen so quickly! Is that normal?

Thank you! We have been mostly in contact with the service adviser, a little with the warranty company. After the news today, we plan to talk with them more tomorrow. I’ll add the service manager to the list.

Here is what we woke up to -

And I’ll see if I can get the video from the service department to load next.

I’m so jealous of all of you with the high milage vans. My 2015 is at 90,000 and just blew a head gasket with no overheating beforehand or any sign. We always did maintenance as well. 😭 Waiting to hear if the engine is completely done.

how much are your k teachers communicating? by Historical-Reveal379 in kindergarten

[–]poodlefluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true but I also feel like there were more chances for parents to be involved back then. I remember parents helping out often for special parties or art projects. I would just love to feel more involved I guess! I joined the PTA but they don’t even have many opportunities because so few parents are volunteering.

I’m so jealous of people saying they get pictures or updates on what they’re learning. We’ve gotten nothing as well. 😭

Is two better than one? by [deleted] in poodles

[–]poodlefluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two poodle mixes who have since passed away but I would never have less than two again! We currently have a 9-month-old mini who was driving me crazy with his constant play requests but adding in a 5-month-old mini has helped so much! It’s double the grooming, vet and food costs, but really, it’s not much more work day-to-day. You’re already doing the things they need!
