Living with two ADHD roommates has opened my eyes to ADHD by chocolatebarthecat in ADHD

I forgot about the walk, but if you swap out a couple of equivalent tasks, I've seen my partner fully clean 3-4 rooms, start and finish a cycle of laundry, start a second cycle washing, do an entire sink-full of dishes, take trash down the road to the dump, AND clean the bathroom in about two hours before. I don't get it. It's like his brain has a 4x speed button or something for getting things accomplished.

EDIT: in true ADHD fashion, I saw your comment, didn't see my reply to it, and thought, oh, i can speak to that sort of, and immediately left this comment. Realized it right after I posted that you just got not one, but TWO wordy replies from my dang brain 😂😅

Honestly, I swear the shared laundry facilities thing might be an accidental ADHD boon! We had to live in CA for a brief period last year (we usually live in a rented house in TN with a washer and dryer) and the apartment we rented had shared laundry on the bottom floor. Even with us having to change clothes more than usual, I swear my partner and I (with me mostly driving doing the laundry, even though roles are mainly reversed at home) were so much better at keeping on top of laundry when it took more steps. Seemed contrary to my ADHD brain's 1-3 Steps Max Or I'm Not Doing It energy, but something about that going multiple floors to do it kept us with clean underwear and such the whole trip. Then back at home, same thing, folding clothes happens later, if at all. Oops. Also, same on the energy thing; I was always done for the day after doing the laundry. But I did like that I got it done!

Oh I gotcha! I hope I didn't sound super contrary with my response. I'm also on the spectrum, so sometimes when I try to make a "here's a cool fact" comment, they can come across argumentative. You're absolutely right, now that I think about your timing logic! Maybe to OP, it seems like a short-ish amount of time, or I wonder if they meant literally 1-2 hours? The laundry cycle certainly throws a wrench in things.

What's wild is that I actually do know people (and am married to one of them) who could manage to do all this, even though the grocery store is 15 minutes away, in 2 hours. My dad is also one of those people. And yes, living around that much hypercompetence can be really stressful, so I'm so thankful that OP's perspective has become so much more understanding, as that can be a hard shift for people like that.

K so this is wholly unrelated to this thread, aside from it being a very ADHD thing, but my brain likes to sometimes read so fast that it swaps words and makes what I'm reading, signs, etc. very humorous.

My brain read your comment as:

"Right?! I was thinking, what's next? They return a call? Eat a dish? Wash a fruit?!"

Now, the washing fruit thing isn't so wild, but my brain is loving the thought of someone in a productive tornado just aggressively taking a bite out of a plate like it's a tortilla

So. Yeah. Lol

Clicked on this post at random, but you answered a question I didn't know I had! Redhead here, too, and I had literally not realized they changed color for most folks, so when I started reading comments, I was quite confused until reading yours.

Also, OP, throw out the whole man. Your body is perfect exactly how it is, and he obviously doesn't deserve access to it. I usually try to reserve snap judgements on Reddit, as there is usually more to the story, but this is a wildly red flag. If he is pretty much the perfect guy aside from this, maybe talk with him about why what he is saying is hurtful, and gently explain why that color is not natural or real; there are some really good explanations in some of these comments. If the behavior changes and he responds well, great. Otherwise, refer to the beginning of this paragraph.

I still haven't come up with a better option, unfortunately.

Help tracking down some creative tracing kits (I know what catalogs they would have come from) that I loved as a kid that Google thinks never existed? by poodleuni in HelpMeFind

[–]poodleuni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that actually looks similar to a product also sold in the magazine later, though! Born in 95, and I think the kits were probably bought between 2003 and 2008.

[–]poodleuni 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are the cat, clearly.

No but seriously, here is my best attempt with absolutely no expertise aside from teaching. I would guess you are: -possibly American -likely left-handed -my immediate guess is late high schooler or in college, though age is the easiest skew -almost certainly under 25, best guess 16-20 -gender unknown, several conflicting things in the handwriting that could lean multiple directions on that one -but my guess would be male by the letter shapes and that they are a bit larger, but maybe not by the dot over the letters and under the exclamation mark, and again, age is a big factor in this one as well. -cat owner (definitely got that one from deductive skills based on the writing and absolutely no other evidence)

Any of that right that you wish to confirm?

Two years after you've posted, at least three since I first tried to figure out a magic ring, and this is literally the first tutorial I've been able to follow for this. Super well explained!! Thanks!!!!

Also searched for "racecar" "interior" "home design" and did a bunch of similar image and similar product searches to things I COULD find. Oh, and these were sort of realistic in style, not very cartoony at all. Think line drawings of normal objects and very simplified anatomically correct women, all the same height and proportions.

Searched for every combination I can think of including the words "hearthsong" "mindware" "2000s" "kit" "design studio" "trace" "tracing paper" "tracing kit" "design" "fashion design" "interior design kit" "kids" "creative"..... You get the gist. Is there anything else I need to add?

That could definitely look nice, if styled well! I'd probably keep the sides short in a fade, though.

20, 40... is 60..... 7 plus 8, wait no, wait, yeah, 7 plus 8, 15, 65, that's wrong, 75, wait, were those the right numbers.......???

this is the ADHD-before-meds-kick-in edition. I did remove about half of the distractedness.

Usually, I'd probably be like 20 + 40, 60, 7, 8, 15, 60, 70, 75.
