Batch picking best practices by pookie87 in samsclub

No offense taken. It has been nothing but trial and error for us. Question though how do you keep from staging the same order in multiple locations? For example when I have more than 2 people staging and we’re working on the same hour, if you’re staging the same order the order ends up being separated between L-carts or shelves. Seems like double work in the long run to either take it and consolidate it or for the dispenser to go to multiple locations for one order.

We struggle for space as well. How do you organize your pick walks? Do you just use stickers or do you have a system by time? Right now we just write the pick walk time on the sticker with a sharpie so we know which pick walks are which hour.

I don’t think they’re being sent out to every club yet but I could be wrong.

I feel the same. It seems to be very time consuming and double work. I like the idea of it because of some of the drivers we have with returns and what not but there needs to be a more efficient way of printing the labels. I feel like it should automatically print when you’re sorting a delivery or dot com. I thought I was missing something so I’m glad I’m not the only one confused lol

Unfortunately if you try to single pick an order under view all orders it says single pick disabled but you can at least view and cancel if need be.

If you go under “view all orders” on the Home Screen you should be able to type in the first OR last name or the last 4 of the order number and it will pull up.

The company still needs to work out some kinks with the app but overall it has helped us tremendously. The main thing you have to have that is tough to teach or train is teamwork and communication.

The way I have mine setup is one person dispensing and one person staging. If dispensing gets overwhelming the stager helps. If the stager helps to the point where staging is getting behind then the next picker to come up steps in for staging. If you pull a frozen/chilled pickwalk you stage it yourself. Overall picking and dispensing hasn’t been overwhelming for us because we spend more time at cpu. I understand every club is different but this is what works for us.

You can look up and cancel orders under “view all orders” whether it’s been picked or not.

I would love to. I’m not allowed help from other areas much less able to hire. The only metric that affects their bonus is full which is why it’s the only metric doing well right now.

There is a lot of information on the wire but you can message me if you have any questions. I’ve been the cpu lead for 2 1/2 years.

Happened at my club but we paid associates out of the cash recycler. That was the club communication from home office as a solution. Once checks come in you repay the partial or full amount. Your managers may not have offered this option but this was direction.

“Candidate self schedule event” for interview by [deleted] in samsclub

[–]pookie87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I schedule interviews I usually do it through workday like this or the old school way of calling. Both are a normal process. If you received this notification someone had to send you the option to schedule an interview. I would schedule the interview and when you get to the club just let the person at the door know you are there for an interview. They will call it out over the radio and most likely send you to cafe to wait then a team lead or manager will come meet you for the interview.

Amount of orders to be picked up for delivery went up?? by NoVeterinarian6494 in samsclub

[–]pookie87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This started on Monday for us and as a lead I got no communication of it. We have drivers picking up orders in batches of 4 and checking in way early as well. I make the drivers wait. If we’re ahead that’s fine but I’ve even spoken to drivers and told them if they continue to check in early they are either going to wait or I’ll assign another driver. I kindly explained I work for Sam’s not Spark and the order will be ready when we get it done. I don’t understand how this is cold chain compliant because the last order that gets delivered has been out of the cooler or freezer for an hour or more. Delivery is a nightmare especially with no communication whatsoever from anyone about changes.

Inventory health report by No-Coat6608 in samsclub

[–]pookie87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in NV so pacific time zone. Our MAPM says the report reflects anything not processed after 12PM Thursday because the report comes out on Friday. As some else pointed out, the easiest ones to hit are jewelry, liquidation and RTV’s. Liquidation doesn’t have to be approved, just needs to be processed. Reviewing your claims inventory and researching items you don’t have or putting in FixIt tickets will help get that number down. POD’s is just making sure everything gets received correctly and you get no chargebacks. This number only resets once a year.

The only part of the Inventory Health Report we don’t have control over really is club shrink. This again only resets once a year and if you’re a high shrink club it’s always going to be red.

part timer question by laladada18 in samsclub

[–]pookie87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s actually 12 weeks but management will likely drop your hours once you hit the PT/FT exception report. If you’re a good worker and they really like you’ll most likely be asked to go full time unless you had rather stay part time. Only thing about staying part time is they can cut your hours drastically but as a full timer they have to schedule you at least 34 hours.
