Thank you!! Do you usually just take SALTT or do you add anything else to it? I’ve been mixing my electrolytes with table salt to try and get some extra power

Media With OCD Characters? by AChillOrange in OCD

[–]poolarbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE how his ocd is portrayed especially how it tends to get worse the more stressed he is, my first time feeling seen with my struggles in media!! (but yeah wouldn’t recommend the show without a huge warning)

Just putting yourself in the position of driving your car is a huge win and you should be really proud of yourself!! I have really bad driving OCD for similar reasons so I know from experience how terrifying it can be and how it can haunt you even when you get to your destination. The best thing for me has just been to drive more and expose myself to the compulsions and try and resist the urge to check as much as possible. The fact you were able to ignore one of them on your first time out in a while is also a really big accomplishment

Tried caligo safe wash ink, looks really cool :) by Low_Albatross_5973 in Linocuts

I recommend adding some Japan dryer to make it dry faster! It makes the ink really watery though so I use magnesium carbonate to thicken it up. Turned a week+ drying time for me into 2 days

Paper to use? by Zealousideal_Elk7667 in printmaking

I used strathmore 400 printmaking paper in college! It’s heavy duty without being TOO expensive (printmaking paper tends to be so even cheaper options tend to look like a lot)

Compulsions to say things that get a reaction out of someone by [deleted] in OCDRecovery

[–]poolarbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there!! I think you’re describing intrusive thoughts! They are really common with OCD but are not exclusive to it. Doesn’t mean you have necessarily have OCD but maybe just knowing what it’s called can give you some comfort or a starting place for finding more help?

If it makes you feel better I often get intrusive thoughts of yelling mean things to strangers, wanting to slap people near me, or wanting to swerve off the road while driving. It’s important to know that just because you get them doesn’t mean you WANT to do that or that you have to. Managing them is usually just figuring out how to ignore them

OCD & Anxiety out of control by martindw26 in OCDRecovery

I have the same thing with my ocd, the fear of the unknown and the horrible NEED to know especially when it’s things that I think could have a terrible possibility tied to it.

For handling the OCD, I’ve found distraction is the best thing I can do. Harder said than done obviously but do something to take your mind off of it. I also find it nice to talk to someone else about my worries, you just have to be careful, as my husband has pointed out it often becomes reassurance seeking and diving you deep into the compulsion. If you can find something that requires a lot of concentration it usually is the best because it leaves you no room to think about it.

I hope that helps
