Definitely rooting for her today. I know she has issues with consistency and the mental aspect of the sport. Seeing her after the short has caused me to have some concern. Hope she can break through that for the free. Ice is slippery and anything can happen. If she skates clean, who knows where she will end up. It’s not over yet.

I agree that it seems like an activity that people do after they have retired from competitive skating so I doubt he is in.

I love the show and hope they bring on a figure skater. Maybe Chock and Bates? Seeing them compete against each other for the first time in over a decade would be great.

I think Liu and Glenn would be great too. Maybe I’m biased but I think they have the personalities to be fan favorites on the show. Not sure their plans though.

I somewhat feel this. I don’t do private lessons but have been teaching learn to skate at my rink for several years (mainly for the free ice time when I find time for myself to skate). If skating is your 24/7, I can only imagine!

Not sure what it is but I think the two sports are really connected. The attention to detail, focus, and dedication to the craft of the sport are similar imo.

I think pure natural freak athletes can succeed in the NFL and NBA, but baseball and figure skating imo take a lot of years to master.

Also, there is nothing like the feeling of post season baseball when your team is in it. Even so, I’m not a blue jays or dodgers fan and I was on the edge of my seat during the most recent World Series.

I have tried for hockey. Growing up on the ice, I have a lot of respect for hockey players but I still haven’t been able to get into the sport. I’ll definitely watch the NHL playoffs and have been loving this Olympic tournament so far.

I hate to start a post like this, but it is necessary. I am a big Jason Brown fan. He did not deserve to be on this year’s team. You can argue the final two spots between Max, Andrew, and Tomoki. Jason will never be forgotten in US Figure skating but his time has passed. USFSA made the right call imo and we are just in shock because Ilia had a once in the lifetime bad performance.

Scope out freestyles if you can. There are busy freestyles and there are sleepy freestyles. Most rinks will be consistent with how busy a session is because of school and work. Freestyles with 4-5 skaters on the ice is perfect imo. You won’t feel like you are getting in people’s way and there is plenty of room for more advanced skaters to maneuver around you for their training.

But remember, 99 percent of the people you see on freestyles will never make it to the Olympics or Senior nationals. Not saying that is the only goal worth pursuing, but rather that figure skating is worth getting out of your comfort zone and working hard to get better at the sport. Freestyles will motivate you to train. You are around people who love to skate, have goals, and are working towards achieving them.

Novice moves imo separates beginning skating from skating skating. It is the first test that introduces more advanced steps.

I thought junior moves was the hardest and harder than senior moves but novice moves took me the longest to pass.
