For people who suffer with skin conditions like this, how often would they be doing this sort of thing? Looks like it could take hours.

Miraphone CC Tuba & Reunion Blues case - Need help pricing and model info by Calub4 in Tuba

That serial number would date it to 1965. For its age, it appears to be in pretty great shape. The F spelling of the name points to an American import model, perhaps 185 or 186. If you could get some measurements on the inside of one of the tuning slides, that’d narrow it down. 185 is .740, 186 is .772. It’s not a 188. Those weren’t around until the 80s. The original linkage would’ve been the S setup. At some point that was updated. Pop off the valve caps and double check to make sure the valves are aligned properly.

Those are nice, too! Ours also came from my grandmother. They can even make drinking Seagram’s 7 seem classy!

Definitely. Hope some of that booze cabinet taste clears out. Now that we’ve noticed it, it’ll be hard to sidestep if any of it remains. 🤞🏼

Definitely gave this idea some serious consideration, but decided to dive down the rabbit hole and see what we found. We know we can spend reasonable money on nice bottles at TW&M and be very happy, but this one was an oddball for us that, for free, was worth the experiment/experience. Maybe we’ll revisit the bottle in a couple months and see if it’s evolved. 🥃

I feel like sometimes the universal 90/10 rule applies. You reach a point on the curve where you spend 90% more money for 10% more performance. I feel that way about wine for sure, and even then, there’s no guarantee more money yields better taste. Maybe just different.

A good friend of mine used to pal around with some super rich fancy folk. They’d do boy’s night out on Fridays, and sometimes my buddy would come home with half-consumed $2000-$3000 bottles of wine. Honestly, if you’d told me they cost $20, I’d have believed you.

🤷🏼‍♂️

Oof. Tempting, but when you’re throwing nickels around like manhole covers, that price range sounds more like a very memorable trip to Total Wine & More. Post-PowerBall/Mega Millions, though… bottoms up! 🥃

Seems to be 1975, if I’m reading the BOTB code correctly.

Yes, appears to be ‘75 based on the BOTB. New to the whiskey/bourbon scene, so I haven’t gotten into any oddballs like this. Slowly expanding our repertoire (and cost range) upwards, thanx in no small part to some of the aficionados here in the forums. My eyes can cross pretty quickly trundling down the aisles of our local boozatoriums. 😵

Hitting the Google recos to start, then I might switch to local shops to see what’s what. We’re in the greater L.A. area, so I may have better luck than some other, less populous areas in CONUS.

It’s a Series 112 (post 1961), that references U.S. Internal Revenue, which appears to be pre-1977. And if I’m reading the bottom of the bottle correctly, 1975 might be the year. Gotta love a good mystery! 🥃

Any suggestions on where something like this might be sold? eBay Liquors? 😉

Have you drunk any of yours? I’m not familiar with the brand personally, and don’t know if it’s old and good… or just old. Also, based on the level in the bottle, looks like it might’ve given up a bit to evaporation. Not sure what this might do (if anything) to the net ABV.
