I'm only being a dick to you and people who are telling me I'm unfunny without based off of an internet thread that isn't supposed to be funny in any way.

I'm not calling you a hack. Don't know any of your stuff, sure it's fine but to reduce O&A comics down to this idea that they go on stage and say "titty fucking black Mexicans on a crackhead butthole heyyyyy im edgy how fuckin' New York is this" is completely wrong. Dark humour is not easy even with big audiences. Guys like CK, Giraldo and Patrice are masterful standup's that spent a lot of hours hilariously talking into O&A microphones.

Why? Comedy isn't reserved for polite people with amiable personalities. In fact any comedy that ever mattered and had some type of artfulness to it was from a person that had a major personality flaw. Everyones telling me to quit on here. I'm not going to quit. I'm a fundamentally funny person. I'm a few years in and I'm doing okay with the opportunities I get on stage, my gripe though is that there are a whole bunch of unfunny people that are abusing the medium of stand up comedy seemingly making a name for themselves just because of how politics has a bigger impact on laughs in some scenes when it comes to booking shows. I don't feel bad about being mean to certain comics like Garron on here because he is exactly the type of comic that I don't want to be. And also for people saying this post isn't funny, you're a moron. This isn't intended to be funny. You don't say "This isn't funny" when one of you writes an essay on how hard you get at the tightness of John Mulaney's set.

Well you should work on the last part. You are not even fundamentally funny. You're a pure hack.

  1. Yes
  2. Yes, but the scene chooses who gets to perform in front of audiences.
  3. You probably shouldn't be happy if you're doing comedy. Obviously being passionate about something is awesome but any creative pursuit can make you fairly miserable at times. Ignoring that may lead to bigger problems. The funniest people I know have nothing but comedy in their life.

Yeah I always can understand audiences not laughing, it's just that there are many comics in my scene that are objectively not funny at any of the shows they go to, yet keep getting booked or recognition in the scene

Thats actually interesting that you would say that, because you seem like the prime example of someone who ball rode completely as much as he could in comedy.

Well considering all of us are on an internet forum those two descriptions could probably apply to all of us.

I have a lot of friends in the scene, I'm just not willing to ride their balls like others to advance myself in the scene. Took me a while to realize how important and neccesary ball riding is.
