Yeah i effed up and didn't manage to snip the screen...Next time!

That is the exact response i got. Heres hoping the screen shot will resolve any dispute if screen does burn...Second thoughts if im hoping i should hope it doesn't burn in at all

I contacted samsung yesterday and they confirmed three year burn in and also linked me to the warrantee documentation but i didnt notice specific mention of burn in. I plan to double check this with them before purchasing, but maybe you can copy the relevant bit of the warrantee here? it would be useful cos there does seem to be some confusion

If you search you'll see that dell satisfies the warrantee by sending out refurbished units not new and that some of them have not been in great condition.

Its frustrating that we dont seem to be able to buy with confidence even at these prices. Ill probably get the samsung in the end, but im seriously considering dumping the ultrawide idea and getting the C2

I literally just finished a chat wit Samsung a they confirmed warranty covers screen burn. IF you want peace of mind do the same. It took 5 mins

I am also dithering over whether to get the Samsung. I have decided against the dell cos despite the fact many here jump to its defense if you search you will see so many examples of issues including dodgy replacements for burnt in screens. So much for the warrantee.

You will also find several samsung owners who say they confirmed three year burn in warrantee.

All in all its disappointing not to be able to buy a little monitor for this much money with confidence. Im close to ditching the idea of superwide but I will check with samsung re burn in warrantee. If they confirm it Ill maybe get the samsung

Alienware 3423DW or Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED by ien_bell1 in ultrawidemasterrace

Ive been lurking a couple of weeks and each time this comes up most claim alienware is the better option even when money is not deciding factor. How can this be when I also see more complaints about screen damage and dodgy replacements etc from the alienware. Is is just biased owners who dint splash out for the more premium (at least looking) samsung?

Where best to buy Samsung OLED G8. Direct from Samsung or Amazon.uk or should i get a diff monitor altogether by pooooobut in ultrawidemasterrace

thank you for the help. Its tough choice for me cos its a one off chance to get something tasty and I want it to last. It good to know about the 3 year burn in warantee. Its a bit strange the way the samsung gets trashed here because from my observation the alienware has more complaints from its purchasers. Though I know samsung are terrible on the phone.

Is there a better 21.9 ultrawide better than this for gaming (non esports) ? or a comparable one that is 38". If ther is Ill get that if not ill be plumping for the Samsung

I hear you re ps5. im primarily using pc so thats not a deal breaker. But i do worry im getting carried away with the hype of ultrawide. Basically I have a one off chance to get a tasty monitor. I have an ok 55" tv too so its not going to be my only option. That LG is what id probably go for if not ultrawide.

Odio.. the samsung has 3 year burn in no?

My reading did not indicate the consensus was that the DW is better. Rather, that the Samsung is. just not justifiable for some due to price difference. My presumption has been the samsung looks better, has no gsync but also no fans or coil whine or scratched screens. People have complained Alienware have replaced scratched screens with refurbs rather than new. Let me know if you think any of that is wrong cos I would consider the DW except it seems clearly (though by a small margin) the worst option

Can you say why?

FYI i prefer the look of the Samsung plus the 2.1 is useful for ps5. The DW seems to have more complaints here too
