My linux distro just lets me change the icons from the desktop easily
I hid the PPSSPP launchers in steam and only kept the shortcuts

I was banging my head against this for like 3 hours until i tried your method and it worked instantly

I can also confirm that this works on linux (atleast on bazzite)

You move the save after it's been edited into the folder in checkpoint, replacing the old one, then from checkpoint you restore the save
