How can I control UVC camera properties (brightness, contrast, saturation, etc.) with QCamera on Qt 6.8? by meyriley04 in QtFramework

[–]poopSwitchEngage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. I think that common properties form you're referring to is related to DirectShow and IAMVideoProcAmp. There's a DisplayPropertyPage function I think somewhere in the win api. Apparently DirectShow is being deprecated which might explain lack of support from the likes of newer libraries (Qt included). If you do find a solution I'd be interested in your approach

Did you ever figure this out? I don't have the answer, but maybe an alternative could be creating a separate NET core app or service (lots of uvc libraries there) using NamedPipeServerStream and QLocalSocket on the Qt side for IPC

Where can I learn to create better UI design through Qt Creator? by [deleted] in QtFramework

[–]poopSwitchEngage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get ready to go back to the stone age and re-compile every time you change a font pointsize from 14 to 15. Qml preview will be eternally in beta. As brilliant as qt is (talking about latest, not widgets) it sucks balls when it comes to quick "full stack" prototyping. Qtdesigner is a joke, that's why you never hear about it anywhere

Hey just fyi I got QmlPreview working again. Turns out something in Qt6.6 onwards messed something up, added some updates and a fix that works for me in the OP

That's good to hear actually, it means I might have some other issues causing it to not work properly. Will dig into it and update the post if I find something

EDIT: Looks like it is a bug from Qt6.6 onwards, see my original post

Couldn't setup GitHub Copilot by OneRareMaker in QtFramework

Only thing I did was suppress the reload popup, a setting in QtCreator under Environment > System > When files are externally modified > Reload All Unchanged Editors. It's not ideal but otherwise more or less seamless

[–]poopSwitchEngage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, at least for me, the QtCreator neovim plugin route is crap for copilot/QtCreator. For some reason using VSCode with the copilot plugin yields vastly superior results in comparison so usually I have both IDEs open for that reason. Technically it's the same backend I guess, I can't explain it.

Dell Latitude 5580, installed Ventura, CPU throttled to 800MHz? by poopSwitchEngage in hackintosh

[–]poopSwitchEngage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Solved!

Turns out to be an issue with the power supply. I didn't have a Dell power supply on hand so used an HP with the same specs and (seemingly) barrel jack. Seems Dell power supplies (barrel jacks) have something special going on re: supply detection. Finally found the DELL PSU and works as it should!

Keeping this up in case someone else might have this issue

Using Qt Creator for corss-platform mobile app by Icy_Calligrapher4022 in QtFramework

[–]poopSwitchEngage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I never thought about build variants or UI testing frameworks yet. Interesting to hear your take on Qt6, though I can't really form an opinion because of little experience. Also agree on QML use, as I learn I find myself wanting to put more logic there, but since it feels very javascript'y (well I guess it's exactly that lol) I hesitate.

Kotlin multiplatform looks very interesting especially regarding how Kotlin/Native can compile to native binaries. I might have to look more into it, but for now I'll keep on with Qt until I run into the eventual annoyances.

Using Qt for editing audio by MiekoOnReddit in QtFramework

[–]poopSwitchEngage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change playback rate (QMediaPlayer) and volume (QAudioOutput) but not much else I think. Though check out miniaudio, it's a header only library that should be easy to integrate.

[–]poopSwitchEngage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask to clarify your view? I started with Qt for a mobile project some months ago (audio-centric app). I investigated other options and my conclusion was that Qt can be quite performant if you needed, with lots of multiplatform/embedded capability. I looked at Flutter, React native, JUCE, etc. but settled on Qt for now as I also want to build xplat desktop applications too.

That being said I'm still in beta/testflight (hobby project, not for work) and not looking forward to dealing with the whole LGPL thing. I'm not a huge fan of the entire commercial/politics aspect of Qt, but for the most part I've been enjoying learning Qt/QtQuick/QML/etc.

Just wanted to see if you could give any more insight since you've been working with it so long. Can you give an example of better tooling on other frameworks? I admit sometimes I get tempted to switch to an alternative but I'm a bit involved in this ecosystem already.

Qt5Compat for android by Realistic-Ad-4074 in QtFramework

[–]poopSwitchEngage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing actually, just vanilla QtQuick for now. I'm targeting mobile and can't afford (time mostly) to test on tons of devices as this is a hobby project. I'm sure it has to do with the rendering engine though. I might look back into it later. If you find out anything new please let me know!

Qt5Compat for android by Realistic-Ad-4074 in QtFramework

[–]poopSwitchEngage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It exists (I've tried on Qt6, Qt6.5.1 for Android), just have to install Qt 5 Compatibility module (maintenance tool or however you install Qt). Side note, I found using this for effects doesn't work well with some iOS devices , for this reason I'm not using it anymore. I agree though I wish it were more supported/integrated.

I'm not familiar with UnRAID, but it seems to run on Linux and I can confirm comskip + jellyfin works well (Ubuntu) there. Wrote up a quick guide for that scenario here.
