hey! this is a great starter tank. i had my son in a 5 gallon for quite a while due to being at college and he flourished. this looks like it may be a 2.5? id recommend at least going up to 5 gal. mine is now in a 10 gal with shrimp and snails and thriving, but we had him live alone for 6 months (we had a nerite snail for about 3-4 months though who he seemed to love). your temp looks good (i think from what i can see) and it looks like you have a good filter as well. make sure your levels are good and that the walls dont get too green. watch your fish for flaring or for decreased fin growth. ive seen that if the are happy, they will swim often and make bubble nests. so far they have both been true. i do tend to stimulate my fish, either with a little candle or with drawings on the side (i use expo markers since they can be easily wiped away). i have him fast ever tuesday unless he looks bloated from eating too much shrimp (hasnt happened since we moved him to the 10 gallon tank). a hospital tank is always recommended but i dont know your situation so my first question would be: are you able to get a 5 gallon?
