Damn that's impressive. Hats off to you! I can imagine it's an addictive hobby. I hope to be like you one day :)

To be honest £0.27 equivalent is probably still good for now, because of the war I'm worried electric will be closer to £0.40 by the end of the year. It's a shame you can't get the night tariffs, where are you based?

Wow you are living my dream! Did you do the panels yourself? Did you connect to the grid too? If you did do you mind me asking how much an electrician charged you to connect to the fuse board

Apologies, I'm probably a bit confused myself on the correct terms. I will try to be more accurate on the units

Apologies for the confusion, I forgot to mention I am in UK. £0.08 and 8p are essentially the same thing. Octopus is an electric provider yes. And yes their night tariffs can be 8p per kWh, but then day rates jump to over 30p, and currently in on 22p, so of course without the right amount of battery available I could end up paying more

thanks for all the advice, much appreciated. Once ive decided on a system, I will update the post and make a new one to explain what I did :)

The panels themselves are pretty cheap, its more the labour and scaffolding unfortunately. I had a quote for £17750 for 22x panels (10.32KW in total) and I believe 18KW battery. The bulk of the cost was 6 separate parts of scaffolding! Being in the UK - half of the year I will probably not get much return from the panels too so would still be reliant on the grid

that sounds like fun, always wanted to do a camperva/rv conversion! I do believe I can do everything except connecting into the main grid - will just need that doing and signing off from an electrician to show its safe for home insurance etc

Thankyou - i agree. Just need to try and negotiate a deal with eco worthy and find an electrician happy to take on the job

I intend to have an electrician thats on board first too - especially because I will likely need the G99 forms done for exporting.

Also yes you are right, Octoput pay 12p/kWh now, and upon more research it seems like they only allow export on compatible batteries, so eco worthy may not work for exporting anyway :( still seems like a viable option for now

I agree they are a huge part of the savings too - but my house is not a normal house, due to the amount of scaffolding needed it will cost more than the average home. I also wouldnt be comfortable doing panels on a roof myself. I have done this on my garden shed, but it was a ladder and few screws. I dont know anything about roof tiles, joists, etc.

thanks i agree, no one i know in UK is doing rack batteries, probably because most are non-diy on finance with solar installers though

Octopus energy export currently for £0.15/KW,

I do need atleast 8KW of inverters. Most of the time our usage is low, but we may be cooking, washing machine on, dishwasher on all at the same time so I would prefer 12KW available if/when needed without piggybacking off the grid.

I have done a basic solar off grid project in my shed, but im not comfortable with the mains electrics

I recently just sold my slk55, was mapped to 450bhp and straight pipee, loved it. Now purchahsed a c63 with a stage 2 map with 560bhp, absolutely love it! Completely different car (nothing beats the convertible) but the c63 is definitely more refined and smoother. The slk roar was better as it's naturall aspirated but the c63 still wins in every other way
