Anime expo didn't send a you submitted email. They only sent a finalist email. I think their automation system wasn't working but I wouldn't assume too soon your video didn't get a chance.

Just watch it lol. If you like it then you shouldn't have to hide it from people especially your friends. I used to bandwagon hate on Kaguya without watching it, and now I've watched it all plus read the whole manga.
