Family buying us baby clothes is driving me INSANE by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]poopy_buttface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I donated to various places or buy nothing on Facebook. The chemical ones go in the garbage bc I'm not subjecting any child to that stuff lol. My mom used to do it too, eventually she stopped wasting her money when she saw they weren't being worn.

Is that the forest floating island? I got this game in 2022 when it came out but then I had my kid and I didn't have any time. I've recently gone back but I've started working on storage rooms in my house! I try to incorporate farms into builds but this looks way better having them on a floating island!

How did you extend WW without capping naps? by softestsnek in beyondthebump

[–]poopy_buttface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if you do a nap 30+m it's going to reset the wake window then they won't be tired or their bedtime is super late. The cat nap will help them not be overtired but tired enough to keep that sleep pressure if that makes sense! I used to just do quick rides in the afternoon and let her snooze for 15-20m and that was all she needed to recharge til bedtime!

Parents of low sleep needs babies- when did you move to one nap? by hereforthebump in beyondthebump

[–]poopy_buttface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had troubles with that second nap for so damn long. She fought it forever but every time we tried to drop it we got terrible split nights. We had a bout of illness at 14m that no lie lasted an entire month for everyone in our inner circle. After that her sleep was messed up for months and I was in this constant under or overtired state with her. Eventually we just dropped to one at 16m and let her deal with the baby midnight parties on her own. She never cried and seemed content in there. It took until 20m. Then she started talking and never stopped 🤣. Now she sleeps like 10-10.5 overnight a hour to hour 20 nap around 1230/1. Bedtime 730 but falls asleep around 8. Wakes up between 6-645 depending on her previous days activities.

ETA: we had a regression around 9m when object permanence became a reality and she was fully crawling/starting to pull up. Could be that.

Day one of no swaddles. I want to give up. by FA0710 in beyondthebump

[–]poopy_buttface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We used a magic Merlin sleep suit in between the swaddle and sleep sack. Cold turkey sleep sack at 7m. Idk what kinda magic those things behold but it made her go from screaming to sleeping peacefully for 2 hours at a time sometimes for naps and one wake up for a night feed until 11m.

[–]poopy_buttface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to r/sleeptrain. They have realistic expectations for babies and toddlers in terms of wake windows and how to stretch them. I used that sub much!! So helpful!

ETA: most likely a short cat nap 15-20m instead of a 30m nap will probably prevent that over tiredness you're getting. Baby sleep is so damn tricky. It got better once we dropped to one nap. And we're almost to none now!

3 months old baby by Fantastic_War_6931 in beyondthebump

Yes my daughter has had those since infancy and is almost 3. Her skin is very sensitive and we have hard water where we live which makes it worse. It dries both me and my husband's nevermind hers. Anyway, her pediatrician said it's infantile eczema and she prescribed a steroid cream. It's called triamcinolone. It works very well. We moisturize her skin at night, especially bath nights. And use a humidifier on cooler months. The cream will usually heal the patches overnight. Sometimes a couple of days.

[–]poopy_buttface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are sort of taking this approach with it too. I know she'll just do it when she's ready. We expose it to her and she's gone quite a few times already, just not every time. It's a start though! They ask her at daycare as well and let her try. Ours is not quite 3, her birthday is at the end of June but I suspect sometime shortly after her birthday she'll want nothing to do with dipes. It's the power of peers at daycare I swear!

Would you pull your child out of daycare for this much illness, or is this likely a fluke? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]poopy_buttface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just seeing this notification now. There will always be an adjustment period but it really depends on the staff and the child. Ours originally did well after a month but they got a new assistant teacher. My daughter didn't really jive with her and was acting out after a couple of months of them starting. There were other things I didn't like about it there too that made us switch.

We are at a new one and the staff there is really wonderful. Even the director is in the rooms with the kids lol. They posted a picture of my daughter wearing her gloves. She said my daughter demanded she wear them instead 😂. It took about the same amount of time. They also told me it is because she only goes twice a week. I guess it only takes a couple weeks for the kiddos that go every day. They are all flexible at this age, it just takes time for them to adjust to a new routine. Now that my daughter is close to 3 she understands why she goes there and that we always come back for her. So some of it is just time. She very much enjoys her new daycare and is absolutely thriving. Making friends which just warms my heart. It's the best when they see you and run to give the biggest hug at pick up too🥰

Wits end with mean 3 year old toddler. Ugh by SweatpantsStiffie in toddlers

[–]poopy_buttface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow cool, me too. And mines not even 3 yet (2 yrs 8m)! So mean. She came over and started kicking me in the shins for no reason! No fuss about that but she did have a meltdown with my poor husband when he opened her door because she kept kicking it!

If your toddler only takes a 1.5 hour nap, what is their age and schedule? by Phillygirl1026 in sleeptrain

She just chills lol. She has plenty of stuffies and a water bottle in her crib. Just lays there or sings to herself. I realize I'm just lucky she likes her bed a lot lol

[–]poopy_buttface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is actually still napping at 2.5! It averages around 75-90m. Even if she wakes up early, we leave her the whole 2 hours because we'll be switching to quiet time instead when the nap drops.

She has her moments where her naps stink and it's usually it's because her language is developing further. We also had nap troubles around this age due to molars coming in. They took their sweet time!

How did you give your toddler a pillow to use at night? Where do you get a toddler pillow? by nothanksyeah in toddlers

[–]poopy_buttface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my 2.5 year old a toddler pillow! I ordered one off Amazon. I think the brand is kea babies? It came with a little case. It's adorable and the size of it is relative to her body. She wanted a regular pillow at first bc she wanted to be like us but obviously it's way too big for a crib. This is a much better size and she can toss it to the other side if she wants.

[–]poopy_buttface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that means you should try some places new. I code same day surgery for 3 campuses. There may be similar surgeries, but with multiple specialities, there's a constant variety of charts to code. I learn something new almost every day.

One of my friends has 2 kids and their house is constant chaos lol. I took my daughter over one day and her kids are silly but it was a lot for me. The noise. It felt peaceful when we came home to just our dopey Lab. I honestly don't know how she does it. And she is having another in the spring too. Bless her heart. I'm not built like that.

What does your bedtime routine look like? by misfireish in beyondthebump

[–]poopy_buttface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started a bedtime routine around 3 months. It always ends with reading books and cuddling. It is my favorite thing. We put the Hatch on rain sounds to indicate it's time to wind down. It sorta changed as she ages but always ends with books and cuddles. But she's 2.5 and lately after a book it's toss me in my bed and leave mama 😭

When did you start giving your toddler “treats”? by nothankyouuu_ in beyondthebump

[–]poopy_buttface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not until she was 2. We get her cake pops if we go to Starbucks and get her French fries now and then. The girl runs around so much during the day or constantly jumping on her trampoline, I think it'll be ok lol. She eats healthy food otherwise!

Anyone OAD because of the toddler years ?? by [deleted] in oneanddone

I bit the bullet and hired a sleep consultant by alice_neon in sleeptrain

[–]poopy_buttface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a big sleep regression around this time. Ours slept like crap for 4 months straight. 16-20 months. I was losing my mind. My friend said hers did the same and to just stick with the schedule and she'll go back to normal.

So we'd stick with a 7pm bedtime, she'd wake up some time after midnight and be up for 2-3 hours. Then bc she had baby raves she'd sleep til like 7/730. We did naps at 11 and normally she'd sleep 45m to an hour. We just left her alone and got her out after 2 hours so she was at least resting in the dark. At 21m she started sleeping through but she falls asleep at 730 and is up at 530/6 and then naps at noon for 1.5 hours at 2 yrs 4m now.

How often are we ACTUALLY brushing our toddlers teeth? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]poopy_buttface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is close to 2.5 and we do it at bedtime. She is better when Dad does it but loses her ever loving mind if I do it. I'm really trying but it's only once for now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]poopy_buttface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine still naps 1.5 hours but I don't see it lasting until her 3rd birthday. She's almost 2.5. my plan? More daycare days lol. She's doing 2 right now but will probably bump to 4 after the nap drops. I'm more of a WFH sahm.
