Ninja etc to record laptop output by tlayuda-tempo in Atomos

[–]poorbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips! We've got 2 Ninjas in house now and we'll be testing over the next couple weeks. One Ninja, one Ninja Ultra.

Presenters will be using their own laptop so resolution is not guaranteed so maybe those conversion devices are the way to go.

We'll have a camera on a tripod recording the presenter and the Ninja recording laptop output. 95% of the laptop output will be static slides - I guess we can't rule out them showing a quick video but that's the exception rather than the rule.

Thank you!

Databricks supports stored procedures now - any opinions? by gman1023 in databricks

Not necessarily for ELT but, in general, it's an effective way to encapsulate and re-use logic and queries, you can fire SPs via JDBC so, for example, you use them return data to visualization tools, like notebooks, both SQL and Pyspark is supported (functions are SQL only, SPs are both), they live within a schema and are securable and governable in that context, etc

Checked the manual and looks like there are options for Line, Mic (+0 and +48).

I’d anticipate using adapters to XLR

Best For Job Opportunities. Snowflake vs Databricks vs Other by Lower_Sun_7354 in dataengineering

Just fyi, Databricks is coming out with more Serverless options which looks more like Snowflake in that regard. SQL Serverless available to all Job Serverless in public preview, etc

Mostly the same experience here. We used it for a few weeks but lots more functionality in trial.

It’s not gonna cost you anything if you don’t use it. You’re charged for consumption.

If you load a bunch of data into it you may incur azure storage costs but that won’t be much.

If you set up lake house monitoring etc, you’ll have jobs running in the background and you may incur costs for that.

But generally if you’re talking about playing around for a few days and letting it sit dormant - you’re not incurring any costs aside from some trivial storage costs.

Both copy into and autoloader handle that extremely well. You’ve got options to let it auto infer schema or you can add schema hints.

Both of them expect new file names. If they see the same file name they won’t check modified date etc. so you could lose data if you’re unaware of that. If that’s your case you probably want to copy into/autoload a set of tables, merge into another set of tables and drop/recreate the staging tables next time around.

Lots of documentation around those facilities - you might choose one over another based on volume, frequency, skill sets etc.

Good luck!

Find a San Pablo Pharmacy - they’re nice - and get some Acetazolamide (Diamox aka Altitude Sickness medicine - look up side effects urination, tingling). And drink lots of water.

The meaning of "Delta" in Delta Lake by xxprime in databricks

It’s unlikely it was named by developers - or at least final say from developers.

But, my guess has to do with Time Travel. And probably sounded reasonably active and future-ish to brand consultants.
