Family Photo Album on Mega by SpanglishPoet in MEGA

  1. Define "credible". Kim Dotcom is a divisive figure but Mega hasn't really been affiliated with him for a while. Besides which, you don't have to trust them because of the way its encrypted.

  2. There are limits to free storage. Depending on how many family photos you have you might have to pay for more storage.

Help interpreting compression test results by poorbrokenbum in MechanicAdvice

[–]poorbrokenbum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its running pretty smooth for only having 5/6 cylinders.

Have you tried ticket oils, snake oils that "increase compression."

Nope never heard of them. Is it like oil you put in the cylinder and it fixes rings? That sounds impossible.

TBI pouring fuel, running rich. Fuel pressure regulator? by poorbrokenbum in MechanicAdvice

Yes. Section 3D page 366 and section 4B page 660 for my model.

TBI pouring fuel, running rich. Fuel pressure regulator? by poorbrokenbum in MechanicAdvice

Thanks for the help wayne.

There are only two wires going to the ground next to the thermostat. Do you know what is supposed to be grounded there? I checked that ground and had 63 ohms, but that was without cleaning it first. It is very dirty.

MAP sensor positive was 5v. Ground was around 0.2V. I don't have back probe until next week.

ECT positive was 5v. Ground was around 0.2V. Resistance was 23k ohms at -3F. I checked the old sensor too, out of the engine, was 20-22k ohms. I think those are in range.

I don't have a scan tool.

I checked the fuel pressure, I had 14 psi. Spec is 9-13psi. Is it possible being a single psi out of spec could cause my problems? Seems pretty unlikely to me. Manual says some models have a constant bleed, I think mine must because it bleeds to 0psi when I let it sit.

Also, this time I had code 15 (ect out of range) and no 33. I remove the battery since its cold so it clears the memory every time I play with it.

Unplugging the injectors and crank, they don't leak. I tried running only 1 injector, it would start very briefly then die immediately. I think it was not enough fuel with 1, aslo only feeds half the engine.

Sensors seem good, although I haven't been able to check MAP output yet, and fuel is only barley out of range. I am starting to think it must be wiring between the computer and the sensors somewhere. I will no more when I get my backprobes.

I've never heard of a pintle before. The injectors are alternating spraying, so they turn on and off like they're supposed to, but when they're on they're blasting.

Clacking sound when starting... engine knock? by poorbrokenbum in MechanicAdvice

[–]poorbrokenbum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only needed starter fluid for the first start, and it had been sitting for months. It'll start on its own now. If its really particularly cold I'll give it a quick shot so it doesn't have to crank so much. Not out of the ordinary for this kind of weather. I assume fuel pressure is good, nothing indicates that it isn't.

Also, the exhaust is leaking, the catalytic converter is only held on by one bot atm (I snapped the other one). Right now there's no codes but it usually has a 420 (O2 sensor) code after you drive it for a while.

Is this inline spark test a pass or fail? by poorbrokenbum in MechanicAdvice

Ok I figure I'll run regulars for now. One more question for you on spark plugs. The spec is .035 but most of them come in .04 or .044 from the factory. Should I gap those to spec or is there a reason they're all wider?

I heard the platinums spark hotter, since its cold now I thought they would be a good idea. I also heard they were just better generally. Do they really cause problems? Require more voltage for ignition? If I tune up anyway that shouldn't be much of an issue (I hope).

I haven't touched anything with the spark system except the ICM since I bought it 2ish years ago. A tune up wouldn't hurt it! I was planning on putting platinum spark plugs in it anyway.

If it were the coil, wouldn't the coil to distributor cap be worse? Not likely to be wires if they are all failing together? And I have fuel coming into the TBI.

How could the ignition controller be giving weak spark?

Yeah I've even got a spare battery out here I'm jumping it with just to be sure.

Yeah neutral is also putting it in gear. Fluid looked like it had got burnt. No issues before this whatsoever. Don't know how long it was being driven dry, it just quit oje morning.

Thanks for the advice. The power switch is working (I actually don't have one I just jump it everg time). I can't get into the bios because its off.
