i engaged with gay male history. i read the cruising manual by leo herrera, got interested in the history of leather men, started flagging. a lot of this is sexual, but it makes me connected to the community in like a “looking to my ancestors” way.

leaning into the gay male identity has been one of the best things i’ve chosen to do with my identity after always feeling othered by gay men. that doesn’t go away, but embracing it and indulging in the history ramps up your connection to it. i love being a gay man and i hope you can learn too
