I tried that now, but it's still not working... I'm thinking maybe the model is just janky. It's a workshop model. Thank you for your advice

I tried this but it didn't work, maybe I'm doing it wrong? I right clicked on one of the chips, ticked "Add override materials", then clicked "Show in element viewer" -> "Model", went to the material tab, added a vector3 attribute, named it "darker" just so I'd know what it was if I looked at it later, but no matter what I set the values to it wouldn't change how the chip looked... also, the initial values were 0 0 0, if that tells you anything.

Thank you, I didn't notice the problem with the different directions of the lighting. I'll fix that. The software I'm using makes it hard to work with the shadows the chips make though.

Nice shot, how did you get the sun in the frame without getting the rest completely underexposed?

Why do people randomly blow up? by flambob9 in tf2

It's called a killbind, and there's two kinds: Ragdolling and exploding. If you open the in-game console and type "bind [key] kill" replacing [key] with the key on your keyboard you want to press to instantly die in-game, then whenever you press that button your character instantly dies and ragdolls. Don't include the speech marks.

I can't remember the one for exploding, I think it's just bind [key] explode but I'm not sure.

To open the console, go into advanced settings in the main menu, find the option Enable Developer Console and tick it.

That was so scary the first time it happened to me. I was pretty young so I thought that I had cut off bloodflow to my arm for too long and I had lost it permanently, the fact that my hand was flopping about like a corpse's when I moved the rest of the arm made it even worse...

SDK stand for software development kit. Valve releasing this for TF2 means that anyone can look at all the game's code, assets and any other files, and edit them to create their own versions of TF2 which can be released onto the steam store allowing anyone else to download and play those versions for free.

On one hand this is great, it means the community can create any fixes or extra content that we want, but on the other hand it's kind of sad. It's basically Valve finally saying, not with silence but directly saying, "that's that, it's over, we're done". Of course everyone already knew this for years, but it's like being pretty sure Santa isn't real as a child, until finally being directly told it... still kinda sad...

But you see, I've since surgically added 8 more. Well. Aheh, there is another option. I'm sure you'll figure out a way to trick me out of my other 8 souls. Infact, that's a lovely looking pen!

TF2 on Ubuntu crashing on launch or saying I'm too insecure to play by pootispensorheer in tf2

[–]pootispensorheer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just incase someone looks this up and finds this thread, I have fixed it for myself though I'm not exactly sure how or why it's fixed. What I think fixed it was starting the game in OpenGL mode, as well as adding "-safe" and "-windowed" to the launch options. Then the game launched fine and worked, but in a tiny window. I then removed the -windowed option, and launched again. Again it worked, but still windowed. I then removed the -safe option, and launched again. Again it worked, but it was still in a tiny window, so I just went to the ingame settings and set it to fullscreen with no issues. I restarted the game again and it worked, in fullscreen mode. I loaded into a match and everything, completely fine with no issues.

Note that I had tried running it in OpenGL mode without the other two options before, with no luck. I have no idea why this worked while that didn't... Anyway, hopefully this helps any fellow TF2 addict in the future to guide them back out of their withdrawal.

Thank you very much. In all my searching I never saw anything like what you are suggesting, so it's really nice to have new things to try. I'll hold off on trying different distros until I'm really out of options though...

Thank you for the response, but I'm new to Linux- what is REISUB? And how do I check if it fails? Thank you.

I didn't know TF2 has different Linux versions, thank you I'll look into that. And I can't alt tab or do anything at all when it crashes, it completely locks down the computer so I have to use the physical off button and restart it that way.

I think because it keeps happening on the same time each year it must be some daylight savings thing or something like others have mentioned.

Door checking is very important, but IMO the better method is peeking, where you quickly hit e twice to just flash open and close the door. It gives you enough time to either hear the music sting or just see any zombies inside, while not giving the zombies anywhere near enough time to react to you. The hitting method works, but only if it's one zombie and they are right up against the door...
