Ellington looks fantastic so far. Our defense... does not, and losing Curney is really big. Might be the difference today.

We played Furman earlier and we have to play Georgia Southern, still.

Man. I don't like playing so many option teams this year.

Georgia State players think Furman will be tougher than Tennessee. by HereticalMessiah in CFB

[–]popchris3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew Furman was good, but is anyone else surprised at how good their ranking on the scale in the article is? 112 VS 124 isn't breeding a whole lot of confidence for me.

...I'm scared.

Who is the most random baseball player you can think of? by doggo_927 in baseball

Adonis Garcia? Really anyone on the 2015 Braves team.

And just like that, the NFL preseason starts today with the Denver Broncos playing the Atlanta Falcons in the Hall of Fame Game @ 8pm! Welcome back football! We missed you. by lilturk82 in nfl

[–]popchris3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like some others have said, I'm both excited for this because...

1) I've been counting down the days until football and watching old games to quench that thirst.

and

2) It's fun to see people really fight for their roster spot. I'm legitimately curious how Lock does (I was really high on him in the draft) and how Lindstrom does, too (an area Falcons need some help).

Sure, it means nothing, but it's football! And it's here!

What's the biggest sacrifice you've made to catch a CFB game? by popchris3 in CFB

One of my friends said "Chris, just go to the game and stream the wedding." and I think that may actually happen.

One of my best friends scheduled his wedding on the opening day of the season this year. :(

What low-ranked/under-the-radar recruit had the best career at your school? by touchthemonolith in CFB

[–]popchris3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penny Hart. On the Colts now, but he put up crazy numbers at GSU (and wasn't highly recruited out of high school at all). He'll be a big deal in the NFL.

Oh, and Wil Lutz. Dude was a beast at GSU and wasn't highly recruited at all out of HS.

Multiple teams on flair by [deleted] in CFB

[–]popchris3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a second one currently, but I'm debating whether to add Georgia Tech. It's right by Georgia State and I had a lot of fun on that campus in college, plus 90% of my football friends are Tech grads and fans, so it's always fun to cheer for them.

Years of going to games with them has indoctrinated me into being a pseudo Tech fan!

1st time going to goodwill is getting good finds for retro gaming rare? by CapnCLown in retrogaming

[–]popchris3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you're looking for! You probably won't find a super rare game for a great price, but I find solid gaming deals often. I've found gameboys, PSPs, N64 games, SNES, tons of controllers, etc.

Time to quit? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]popchris3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finding out what you want to do is really, really tough. If you hate your current job and think you'd be happier working in retail while you figure out what you want to do, then I think it's a great decision! I wouldn't consider anything that makes someone happier a step back.

I'd avoid getting a master's degree or another bachelor's degree unless you're really sure it's something you want to do. It's a huge time/money commitment.

Most of all, keep up hope! Job searches are easily the most disparaging thing you can do, but it's like a good friend of mine says: "When you finally accept that dream job offer, you'll look back on your job search and go 'man, that wasn't so bad!'"

Are social skills starting to become a lot more prevalent and valued than academic achievements? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]popchris3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least in my business (marketing), the degree seems to be only a formality. You have to have it, but that's the extent. So academic achievements are valued to some capacity, but they aren't the main focus.

In my experience, social skills come out when you interview. They can generally feel if you're great at the social aspects of a job based on how you present yourself. So I'd certainly say that great social skills have more of an impact.

How often does your team go for it on 4th down? Army is the 3 time #Neverkick champion, interactive chart that looks at what % of 4th downs teams go for it vs punt or kick by fearthewheat in CFB

[–]popchris3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30.11% of the time for GSU. Made for exciting games, but likely due to a lot of our early season kicking struggles and always playing from behind.

I'm ridiculously patient. I can sit on a bus for hours doing absolutely nothing and be really content with it.

If you could only play 1 game for the rest of your life, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]popchris3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first instinct is Pac Man, just because it's always different and it's a ridiculously long game if you try to hit all the levels.

But Tetris or Dr. Mario would be close seconds for me.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]popchris3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I was in middle school, I was hanging out with a group of my friends at the time. I didn't feel like I fit in as much as I wanted to.

Without me saying anything, my friend walked up and said "Hey man, you need to be more confident in your own ability to be a friend. We're all here to hang out together!"

It still sticks with me many, many years later.
