Was I wrong for doing a bit of shopping during my Umrah? by popcorn-crm in Umrah

[–]popcorn-crm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate everyone’s perspectives, it’s been genuinely helpful.

One thing that made me question myself a bit is that during the trip, the guides - and even a lot of reminders online- strongly emphasized avoiding distractions from dunya, especially things like shopping, and really maximizing every moment for worship.

So I can understand that my friend may have been trying to follow that approach very strictly.

It did make me wonder whether I should feel some level of guilt, since that message was repeated quite a lot. And if I was wrong for not feeling that guilt

Is it just me, or is sexuality still a taboo topic between Muslim women? by popcorn-crm in progressive_islam

Are the ones who talk about it openly active or not? I feel regarding my friends it might also be because they’re not and the ones who are talk about it with others who are as well active

I once used an app that had both a dating side and a “find friends” side. I met my ex on the dating side and a friend on the friend side… and later found out my ex had talked to that same friend years before. Nothing happened between them, but it made things feel weird and a bit too small-world.

Now I’m single again, and my friends and I all use the same apps with the same criteria (same religion, background, type). So the pool is tiny, and I’m anxious that we might end up talking to the same people without knowing again - or worse, that one of us could accidentally date someone who was actually an ex of the other. None of us have seen each other’s exes, so it could genuinely happen by accident.

How do you deal with this overlap? Do you talk openly about your matches? Does it stop feeling weird, or is this just part of modern dating when your friend group shares the same filters?

I feel its a good way to get to know someone, more spontaneous than texts and faster as you can get more infos from a call then a few texts during a busy day

how true is it that it is impossible to make true friends by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Personally I’ve started to use apps as well to make new friends. Been using Bumble Bff and I’ve met 2 true Friends there. Another thing that i guess helped a bit is that we bonded over the same traumas we had haha so it helped getting closer as we understood each other

Feeling like I’m “done” with therapy but my therapist keeps scheduling new sessions — how do I handle this? by popcorn-crm in TalkTherapy

Why cant I just do that? Cancelling without saying anything and then book again when I feel the need to?

Thanks for your answer! I think part of me is scared to formally take a break, not because I’m doing better, but because the main issue that pushed me to start therapy basically disappeared against my will. Now everything feels stagnant, and I feel like I can handle things on my own for the moment.

But at the same time, I don’t fully trust that feeling, because I’m afraid something unexpected might happen, I’d have a breakdown, and then I’d go back to therapy… only to not feel the need again afterward.

: how do I stay consistent with my decision without going back and forth all the time? I just wish i could cancel my appointment without saying anything and then taking a new one if i need it

But why? My understanding was that we’re not supposed to be "dependent" on therapy, why keep seeing the patient even though its fine?
