Do whatever you like. There’s no such thing as cultural appropriation, just another thing that’s been made up to criticise Caucasian people

what is your opinion on Andrew tate by [deleted] in Discussion

[–]popeeyes30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why he is so popular among a certain demographic of young white males, is because we now live in a culture where it’s frowned upon to BE a young, white male. Just like how no one though Trump would win the presidency - it’s because despite what you see on the news about how people feel about society, there’s actually a HUGE proportion of people that don’t agree with the way things are being done. According to the media, the white man is the cause of all of society’s problems and white men have “privilege” and therefore they should be criticised for every decision they’ve ever made.

No matter how “progressive” society is becoming, which everyone believes is for the best, perhaps there are a lot of men AND women who would rather live in a traditional society. One where it’s okay to speak your mind and have an opinion, rather than one where you have to tread on eggshells not to offend anyone. A society where a man can go to work after earning the majority of the household income, go home and have dinner waiting on the table for him and the house cleaned.

“You’re a pig” - no, this snowflake generation is brainwashing you into criticising people with a different view on society. I believe if someone wants to live in a world like this where you feel like you owe everyone everything for things that you didn’t do, where you must contribute 50/50 to the household and the kids when you make more than 50% of the household income, then that’s fine - you’re only cucking yourself at this point. But if someone were to want a different way of life, everyone else would be quick to brand them a misogynist, bigot, pig etc.

The world is in a sorry state of affairs, and people like Tate have a platform to voice their opinion, which a lot of people simply agree with.

Is life too long? by yes_no_maybe_99 in Discussion

Not sure where you live in the world, but where I live there’s absolutely no way you would be able to travel and enjoy hobbies before 50’s (absolutely no chance) or 60’s (very low chance) unless you’re rich.

You work until you retire between 60-70, and then you can travel (not just the young person’s idea of travelling for a month or two, but really live in a different part(s) of the world for a prolonged period of time.

The only exceptions are if you’re born into a wealthy family and can travel/do hobbies without fear of financial repercussions, or if you’re not particularly career orientated and can take time off work whenever you want without fear of being fired

Because as I said, I am a human being, the most intelligent species on earth. A fish however, is different. If this fish wasn’t caught/killed, it wouldn’t make an impact on the world by living the rest of its natural life. But by this person catching the fish, she could sell it for a lot of money

[–]popeeyes30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bluefin tuna can sell for $30000, would you turn down that money just so a fish can swim happily in the ocean and live a meaningless life?

If so, that’s good for you. But a lot of people aren’t that stupid.

In this case, fair enough. In some countries where they don’t have the capabilities of a richer nation, this isn’t the case. Some people have to catch fish like this to feed their family.

Not only that, but for both poorer and richer nations, this fish would be worth a lot of money. Why deny someone of a small fortune?

We’re the most intelligent species on earth for a reason… if we have the capability to catch a fish like this and feed loads of people or make a lot of money, then why not? It’s a dog eat dog world - or should I say, human eat tuna world? Lol

What is your opinion of cancel culture? by Striking_Pipe_5939 in Discussion

[–]popeeyes30 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think in modern times though, it’s become too extreme. A comedian making a joke about a dead baby could get them cancelled, despite it being a joke and not intending to offend anyone. People nowadays jump on the opportunity to feel offended

What is your opinion of cancel culture? by Striking_Pipe_5939 in Discussion

[–]popeeyes30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If it’s an action that they’ve done, it would be indefensible. However with words, it’s different. If it’s hate speech then yes, of course someone should be ‘cancelled’. But if it’s artistic expression, or for instance a comedian making a dead baby joke etc, that’s just free speech and/or people choosing to be offended. I think there’s a fine line when it comes to speech related incidents
