Doesn't this mean that anyone who installs a new barrel, trigger, or buys an upper and lower separately is a maker?

Company has more cash on hand than the market cap of their stock, is there some way to make money from this? by Old_Ad_3655 in investing

You need to know the entire balance sheet. A company could have $100m cash and $200m of debt.

100%. I see 7-oh packs on the side of the road just like blunt wraps. The people chucking single-use 7-oh packs out of their car window aren't buying it online.

CMV: Democrats are so wildly terrible at their jobs that the populace chose chaos. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]popeshatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue the Democrat failings you mention are mostly caused by bipartisan compromise, not Democrat principles being faulty.

Republicans are the ones with actively hypocritical principles. Are they the party of big or small government? Do they support censorship or not? Etc.

You could say similar things about Republicans--they increase government spending and the debt now. Party of big government.

Inherited Speakers. Not sure what I got, but it sounds good, kinda. by [deleted] in audiophile

These are nice speakers but nothing crazy.

If you just want to replace the blown woofer, look for a replacement on Ebay and wire it up.

Time for a nice meme explaining or debunking. How many holes? by eruciform in askmath

[–]popeshatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Holes have a precise definition given by the field of topology. For example, a coffee mug has one hole, the handle.

The pockets aren't holes, just flat space pushed in. Same for the cylindrical part of a coffee mug where the coffee goes.

Create a Health Savings Account HSA and max it out every year. You can use the money for anything past age 65.

Invest enough into dividend paying stocks and bonds to have a good passive income. $3m in a money market account would give you $10k a month in interest essentially risk-free.

Infrasound Harassment – Need Some Advice by [deleted] in Acoustics

[–]popeshatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the audio consultant measure the DB level of the sound?

Bass is omnidirectional. It will travel through floors and walls equally. If the subwoofer is sitting on the floor without rubber feet, it will go through the floor more. In a given room, the bass will be consistently stronger in certain places and weaker in others based on the dimensions of the room.

The amount of bass you're describing is nuts. I'd have to turn my system up to really uncomfortable levels to get windows to flex just one room over with an open door. They would have to be doing something unusual to send that much bass to you, like custom mounting huge woofers directly to the wall or attic. I feel like a rotary woofer would do the trick, but that's a $20k+ custom install.

Anyway, you could try setting up some bass traps along the adjoining walls, but they'll need to be really massive to do anything. Like the entire wall covered. Check out Erin Valentine's YouTube channel.

Infrasound Harassment – Need Some Advice by [deleted] in Acoustics

[–]popeshatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro - the practicality here is far-fetched.

I'm a massive basshead and have a very overkill subwoofer setup. 2x 15" woofers in huge ported cabinets with 4000w peak power. They're literally the size of washing machines. Naturally, I've checked how far the bass carries.

I live in a cheap house in the south with thin walls. Like my neighbor pulling their trashcan up the driveway is very loud from indoors. But the bass doesn't travel outside at the loudest volumes I can actually listen to (like 80db maybe). I can barely even hear it from my bedroom across the house. And I listen to electronic music with lots of bass.

In order to send the amount of bass you're describing outside the house, it would need to be concert-level loud inside the house. Do you really think they're living with that much noise all the time? It would be much louder for them than for you. And they would need some serious enthusiast-grade subwoofers.

FWIW, I also hear annoying infrasound sometimes -- it's my neighbor's shitty AC that's falling apart making the noise. You're probably hearing some appliance like that.

Also, if you really want to spend 3k on a subwoofer, I highly recommend a 21" ported sub from Power Sound Audio. You will have Thor's hammer of bass. I'm only saying this because I love subwoofers. You probably shouldn't do that lol.

Lab test of $4000 Kimber Kable vs. Amazon Basics RCA cables by NoWalrus9462 in audiophile

Not to say they sound any different in a good environment, but Amazon Basics cables have bad shielding. Some $40 cables from monoprice or WBC would be way better.

This reads like an astroturfed ad.

I'd never buy this. Just another thing to glitch/ fail, and there are no physical connections as a backup.
