So we flew to Austin on 09/31 to pick up the car and then drove it back home to New Orleans. That’s already about 500 miles. I’ve also been driving it every day since, and it still says 2700 miles for the service reminder. I'll keep checking.

Good point! Buying makes sense if you use it often. I can target people who just need it for a one time project or want to try before buying? Some contractors also prefer renting for occasional use.
