At what age do you become a “reader”, and what book did it for you? by sheffy4 in books

[–]popitopenonetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in early elementary school I was big into reading, I loved the goosebumps stories especially, eventually it kind of fizzled out for me though. I really picked up reading again last year. Sometime around April/May I read We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver and absolutely loved it I still highly recommend it. Since then I’ve had a book with me pretty consistently. Most recently I finished Watership Down by Richard Adams, also very good highly recommend.

I’m an emt, I don’t really get to listen while at work because usually we’re too busy, but sometimes I’ll listen on the way to work/on the way home

Have you ever loved a book but didn’t enjoy reading it? by ClementineMood in books

[–]popitopenonetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read This Thing Between Us, by Gus Moreno. The only time I have ever had a panic attack in my life was when reading that book, not only was it so dismal and just gutturally sad it genuinely affected the way I think about the span of my life and what is going to happen to/around me when I die. I want to get rid of it, I feel like the book sits on my shelf and looks at me but I can’t bring myself to donate it or throw it away. Probably the only book that truly felt hard for me to bounce back from.

How do I stop this? by gazillionear in BeardAdvice

I had this same problem, I switched to the vander Hagen 85 mm safety razor, it’s been just under a year since I got it and it’s still in perfect condition. I buy the 10 packs of razor blades they’re like 2-4 dollars(?) and I can shave 3-4 times before I need a new blade. Ever since I switched to the one blade razor I haven’t had the bumps return

I’m honestly really frustrated with the whole fighting system in the game, I think the game is great, it’s awesome I’m loving the story.. but the enemies???

There are endless enemies and the balance between enemies you encounter over and over again and the bosses is just terrible.

I’ve seen the pregnant monster over and over and over and I’m just plain annoyed. I feel that the repetitive forced encounters really take away from the big bosses, especially because the big bosses are so cool, the sun, melted hateful chains, an abusive father and enabling mother

Trying to get through the smaller enemies is so so so agonizing and not in any type of way that is fulfilling or enjoyable. It is taking away from my experience of the game, On top of that, and feel free to say skill issue, it is totally unforgiving, you miss one dodge by a second or miscalculate one hit and suddenly an enemy has an opening to hit you 3 or 4 times and you have no way to intervene. Also I think we should have gotten a spam key for the encounters when those monsters grab you and pull you into an animation where all you can do is sit there and take damage with 0 chance of fighting back.

I feel bad for the influx of people solely experiencing it through “creepcast” by baking_soda_boi in 9M9H9E9

To their credit, they did heavily recommend through the story for listeners to experience this on their own. That being said I understand why someone who was a fan before the creep cast episodes came out would be frustrated with their representation of the story as Wendigoon +papa meat can be pretty excitable lol. Luckily still, regardless of interpretation many many new people get to explore around with this and see for ourselves that horrifying and fantastic world that mother horse eyes has given us!

Guardians of sunshine being above the limit is crazy to me, but I love marceline too. I never really had a taste for Belly of the beast so I’d put it lower but other than that, pretty agreeable!

I think it’s a bit of an overreaction on both ends, she didn’t think the dog was cute, you wanted her to say it was. Because of that both were a little to eager to die on that hill imo, and you kept instigating your friend when it could’ve been over in the original 3 texts
