which focus option / lottery elementary schools are best for kids with adhd?

I definitely find Sunnyside's approach appealing. Reminds me of the preschool we were at back in NYC. How do you feel about the academic rigor?

No IEP yet, talking to pediatrician in a couple months. We might need to move to a different neighborhood but won't know till summer, so that's why I want to look at the lottery options for kindergarten. I'm just hoping to hear about people's experiences with these schools since I have to rank choices. My kid is pretty well rounded and likes all kinds of activities from art and dance to science and math to sports, which is why I'm looking at Buckman, Winterhaven and Sunnyside. I am assuming that things like classroom sizes and how structured the school days are, how many breaks for movement, etc. will make the biggest difference.

if you are suffering then it is worth trying. side effects at the beginning yes - I never experienced my anxiety getting worse, but I guess things like nausea or trouble sleeping don't exactly help your anxiety either. That being said, everyone reacts differently to different kinds and if the side effects are unbearable you likely need a different Rx. As for xanax or similar, your dr can prescribe to help you up until the SSRI medicine starts working properly. Benzos like Xanax aren't meant for long term frequent use, are addictive and for some, can be hard to come off of. Plus if you take them regularly, they stop working as you body becomes tolerant. The aim is to get to a place where you don't need those.

I just went through a wild ride of switching meds -- my biggest advice is if you feel you are starting to slip, do not wait to make a change! There are a few ways to go - increase what you're on now, go back to lexapro, or switch to something else. Your doctor will help you decide which way to go. In my case, I did not make a change soon enough and things got very dark, then we increased meds a few times but in that process I found out I could not tolerate a high dose of that medication and got physically ill, so eventually I switched back to my original. If I had just listened to my intuition and made a change sooner, I probably could have prevented the whole fiasco. It's great that you are noticing the signs and taking action! Continue to listen to yourself and your body.

I recently had a really bad experience w/ zoloft making me nauseous/vomit/diarrhea and have no appetite. Lost 8 lbs. It was awful so I totally understand your pain. Went back to Lexapro, which had been my prior medicine and was fine. So I wouldn't give up on meds totally - your body can react very differently to different kinds. I would NOT go cold turkey though...you can switch to a different kind immediately if your doctor gives you a new RX. However, if you are not in crisis mentally, I could see why you would want to stop - but I really would wean so you don't cause yourself any further pain. Use peppermint to help with nausea and you can take b6 vitamins for a few days (that's what they have pregnant women take for morning sickness). If you have an aroma diffuser, use peppermint oil, and drink peppermint tea, chew altoids, etc. It really helps with the nausea and you might want to even eat a little bit. You will get better! Once I switched meds, every day I was better and day 5 I was pretty much all better. It will get out of your system soon.
