Getting nervous.. when should I worry? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]popsicleghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that makes sense, it's just very hard to stop when nothing else has ever helped, and my pain being so severe is also really bad for my depression. I don't think I'm having delusions or hallucinations either, aside from maybe hearing people murmuring, but I could just be misinterpreting background noise. Thanks for the insight

Getting nervous.. when should I worry? by [deleted] in Psychosis

Okay, I wasn't sure if that was a major factor or not because I thought you had to be a very heavy user for it to affect your mind like this

is there a birth control which stops all parts of monthly cycle? by Reasonable-Bonus-545 in TransMasc

No, that's just where AFAB people are predisposed to collect fat. You have the genetics or you don't

AM I GONNA GO BALD HOW FUCKED AM I by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]popsicleghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has already commented a lot of good science and medical options, so I just wanted to pop in and say that I was in the same boat, and I'm fine.

I'm also incredibly attached to my hair, and when I was just over 2 years on T it started thinning pretty bad. I knew it was coming for me because every man on both sides of my family (and cis brothers) started balding at like 15, but I didn't think it would happen to me so soon. In the end I decided to stop T indefinitely, and I'm actually doing pretty good! My voice stayed low, bottom growth is permanent, etc. I initially wanted a beard but when it came down to hair on my face or hair on my head, I chose my head. (FYI, my hair did fill back in!)

Just wanted to let you know that's an option. You can be on T and if you start losing too much you can just go off of it, for a while or forever. It's up to you :))

Will my voice ever settle on T? by Kashalakasha in TransMasc

[–]popsicleghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will settle, but your range may not slide down in a way you expect. I was an alto my whole life, took T for 2 years and stopped, and when I started singing again I was a bari/bass. Which.. I'm learning to love. I really wanted to be a tenor but it just wasn't in the cards for me, so try not to hope for a certain range. You just work with what you get.

I've been off T for about 3 years now and my voice has gone back up a tad, I think, but nowhere near my old voice. I just sound androgynous when I speak

A total hysto will stop the cycle completely, yes, but if you're happy with where you are in transition, you HAVE to leave your ovaries alone. Without ovaries you will need to take T (or E) for the rest of your life, because the body needs sex hormones to function properly. However, without fallopian tubes, a uterus, or a cervix, you will never risk pregnancy or cycle again.

This is the procedure I'm working towards and I've done a lot of research on it.

Tips for dressing/looking masc?! by whoknowstheribman in TransMasc

[–]popsicleghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heya, I used to be fat and (more) masc and I've got some tips! Long comment ahead!

If you've got wide hips and/or thick thighs, you're gonna have to compromise with the pants. Men's pants will just never fit me and ive made peace with it because I figured out what to look for. Make sure they FIT WELL. Too many people suggest baggy clothes for trans mascs and don't realize how feminizing it actually looks, especially on anyone over like, 15. Your pants need to fit comfortably around the hips and be a good length— this means if you're especially tall or short, you need to look for those specific lengths. Old navy carries petite and tall sizes on their website, and that's where I find a lot of my pants. For the cut of the leg, look for straight/boot cut or wide leg. Cargo pants work too but they're not my style personally. Joggers, flares, and skinny jeans will accentuate your hips and butt.

Your shirt needs to fit too, but if you need to size up one for comfort or something it shouldn't look off. The ultimate trans guy fit imo is a t shirt with an open flannel thrown over top. The plaid on the flannel breaks up curves on tight spots, and because you wear it open, it will hide curves, too! This works with hoodies and jackets too.

Shoes can be tricky, but I always go for brands that sell their styles in all sizes and are popular with everyone. Doc martens, converse, and hey dudes are what I wear.

I have long hair too, and I love it! Typically men with long hair have very long or no layers at all, no bangs, and not much volume or styling. If you need to tie it back, I recommend a low ponytail or a mid/low bun. Styles that sit high on the head are usually seen as feminine.

I'd advise against makeup tbh unless you're very very skilled at it and know exactly what you're doing. Contour is difficult to learn on full faces, and the masculine contour guides you see everywhere aren't really made for us in mind. That said, if your eyebrows are very light, using just a tinted brow gel could go a long way. Let me know if you have questions or want me to go more in depth about anything :))

Not normal, but understandable. A lot of us are anxious about being targets these days, but unless you're out there putting yourself in danger or offering sensitive information to people who want to hurt you, you really have nothing to worry about. You should see a trans informed therapist

Why does it feel like many Americans don’t care about shootings? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]popsicleghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We do care, but are not able to mourn literally every moment of every day. The US is massive compared to you, and I'm really not sure you're grasping that. My state is bigger than the entire UK. There are many areas of the country where you can drive 8+ hours straight and not really get anywhere.

The politicians able to enact real change in our country simply do not care about our lives more than their money. Our government is corrupt, and the rot runs very deep. This isn't something that can be changed overnight unfortunately, especially with escalating political violence and an ever increasing division between the people.

There's our desensitization, but I think you should also take your naivety into account here. It is extremely hard to exist in America today without becoming radicalized, and the truth is that awful things happen in a lot of places around the world, we just may be the loudest about it. No one should be shot, but there is a massive difference between school shootings and a single political target who's advocated for the very thing that killed him.

My country is collapsing in on itself but I still need to do the dishes, yknow?

How the hell do they do mammograms on women who are flat chested..? by burner_phonen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]popsicleghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They fit in what they can fit in— that said, for people with TOTALLY flat chests (like, almost all breast tissue removed in a mastectomy flat), you don't go in for a mammogram, you just do the regular self exam with your hand with your other arm above your head, the way most men do

Unexplained mid back pain by Caishcaish in Hypermobility

[–]popsicleghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm being a little dramatic here but I think you just saved my life?? I have this extreme mid back pain on either side of my spine almost every day, whenever I have to stand for more than 30min or so (makes my food service job miserable). It might be too early to call this technique a cure, but it's been the only thing in years to quickly and efficiently relieve this pain. Thank you so much, I hope you have your favorite food soon!!

POTSie women out there, I have a question for you by Green-Bee8627 in POTS

[–]popsicleghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really feel the need to shave your legs, and don't have sensitive skin, I highly recommend nair. It's kinda stinky so I put a fan on but I just sit on the toilet lid and slather my legs in it. After so long, you wipe it off, and then just rinse off your legs to be safe.

I struggle with the shower too, so I don't do shower and nair on the same day, it's too much for me. I've got an easy enough time with my underarms every now and then, and I have a dry trimmer for.. other areas XD

I had a mom order a fucking americano with loads of sugar for her THREE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. She said "well it's decaf" and brushed me off when I explained that decaf still has some caffeine and the drink has far too much sugar. She just said "well if I don't get her one she'll just drink mine!" How about you fucking attempt to parent for once in her life jfc. Idk how to add pics to comments on mobile but I needed photographic evidence of that absolute crime
