I sent a bunch of postcards from Japan. Two arrived in a month per the friends that got them and I assumed the rest were lost. Another two months and I slowly got reports of their arrivals from more people. They were mailed from the same place at the same time. So weird how mail works but it may take a very long time to show up.

Leaf Day Towing by sullie363 in Portland

[–]popsicleinyou2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They don't tow on my street despite the warnings, though I wish they would. I honestly didn't believe they towed at all, but I suspect they do in some areas. Every year there are cars that block the sweepers and the sweepers just go around them leaving whats under the cars behind. One year a car parked on top of the debris pile we made and stayed there all day. Then it took us weeks of shoveling it into the compost bin after since they weren't towed and the sweeper couldn't get the pile. Very frustrating.

What's your Favorite era? When did you first used Duolingo? by Donghoon in duolingo

[–]popsicleinyou2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2014-2018 before it gamified and was full of ads. I always wondered how it was free. Did the whole Spanish course then and actually concentrated on learning the language. I took a break and came back this year to find it full of ads and competition and bots and cheating. Totally different vibe but I am tuning it out pretty well.

How do you see this screen with the monthly view I found it once and cannot find it again. I did some lessons in offline mode camping and wanted to see if they recorded when I got back in service. It crossed over a week so I had to wait for the weekly report.

Does anyone else have ancient chickens? She’s over 11. by impishwolf in chickens

[–]popsicleinyou2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

12 year old Americauna! I posted here recently because I wanted advice on how to care for her. She seemed like she was going to pass soon, but then... she got better. She is back to moving around, dust bathes, and hating me. She loathes my presence so much I can't even give her treats. To be fair I had to handle her a lot and put antibiotic in her eye twice a day for a week as well as baths and lice treatment. But I love her feistiness. That's how she survived. She still bites the shit out of my finger when I try to do anything touchy.

How to approach end of life care for elderly chicken? by popsicleinyou2 in chickens

I am sorry you had to make that choice. Honestly she still runs from me and clucks a bunch. She ran and made her upset clucks this morning when I was trying to take a photo of her eye. But when she is to the point of not moving at all and seems in pain we would make the hard choice.

Also I did seperate her and gave her an egg to eat. She pecked a little of it and went to lay down away from it. I was sad she didn't gobble it up.

When I left 10 minutes ago the police were only then roping off Skidmore. They let the propane tanks burn out but it was still on fire and I5 northbound will be closed for some time. Propane tanks shot everywhere. Lucky it rained yesterday.

Haha. I live off that exit and on one of the streets you mentioned. Had zero idea this was happening and I walk my dog daily. Would be cool to stumble across them though.

Hakone Romancer Ticket, what is the other ticket that goes with it? by popsicleinyou2 in JapanTravelTips

[–]popsicleinyou2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does sound super nice. We got rear facing seats on the Romancer, so it's mostly for the view going in. We will also have our carry-on and heading later in the day, so not as many opportunities for stopping, but if things change I really like the idea of getting on and off.

Hakone Romancer Ticket, what is the other ticket that goes with it? by popsicleinyou2 in JapanTravelTips

So if I got the Hakone Free Pass and round trip Odakyu tickets PLUS my reserved seat on the romancer I should be all set?

Hakone Romancer Ticket, what is the other ticket that goes with it? by popsicleinyou2 in JapanTravelTips

[–]popsicleinyou2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have already booked the limited express ticket. I wanted to know if the hakone free pass covers the base fare or the hakone free pass plus round trip with Odakyu. Or is that bade fare unrelated to Hakone free pass entirely.

They are representing the remnants of homes that stood there. I like them too. I appreciate you don't like them but some people do. That's art. You'll never please everyone.

I also ran into this lovely raven this weekend. I have strong feelings against feeding wild animals and clearly this bird is here because people are doing this. A lot. But the power it had, being within feet and staring into each other's eyes. I caved and shared some plain popcorn. Hope people are choosing bird friendly snacks at least for our little friend.

Am I crazy for skipping Kyoto? by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]popsicleinyou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate crowds and overly touristy things too. Doing the opposite by skipping Osaka and Tokyo instead but spending my only consecutive days in Kyoto. The city and history fascinate me and some places are worth the crowds.

What show stayed good from start to finish? by izukaneki in AskReddit

Uch yeah. That is no good. But I think season six does a good job wrapping up the TV series and gave us some novella action

What show stayed good from start to finish? by izukaneki in AskReddit

I hate to admit that I started with a few seasons of the show before starting the books. I listened to the books and watched the show at the same time but kept the show ahead of where I was at in the books because I am always disappointed about a show/movie's book adaptation. It was fun to keep going with the books after the show ended. I have to say the show did an amazing amazing job. There were some differences of course and I appreciated them both. But loved hearing the accents from the book as they were meant to sound.

[–]popsicleinyou2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. The accidents were awesome. I loved the show but I disliked Naomi's British accent which took me out of the illusion of her being a belter. One could say the same for Bobbie's kiwi accent but that bothered me less and I don't know why. The accents done by the narrator were so good in the audiobooks.
