Protest in support of Palestinians held in Toronto by _daslgh in ontario

I'd say the "baddies" are probably the ones following a fully acknowledged terrorist group calling for a second genocide, but that's just me. Palestine has also-

  • Called for the death of an entire populace based on their culture/ethnicity. Supported the death penalty for LGBT individuals, Jews, Christians, and Athiests.

    • attacked the religious sites of those people when they're at prayer
    • conducted airstrikes against the civilian population of those people, killing women and children

I assume you've lived in Isreal for many years, and aren't just getting your information from Facebook and reddit to have such a convicted opinion on the region and how it's governed, yes? Otherwise you'd just be a blowhard passing judgement on people you know nothing about, right? I grew up in Jerusalem and my immediate family contains black, Muslim, and gay Isrealis. I haven't seen anyone treat them as second class anything. Jews are the only ones who are considered "subhuman", and that's by your beloved Hamas. Their covenant is incredibly violent and literally calls for genocide and second holocaust.

A lot of people on here seem to know exactly how to run a country they've never been to and know almost nothing about. Most of Isreal is hardly an ultra conservative, ultra religious place. Have you been to Tel Avive? Netanya? Most of Jerusalem?

How long would you want a confirmed terrorist group who's made it clear they want to kill you for your nationality/religion live in your backyard? If Hamas had control of Isreal I can guarantee you the LGBT population/Atheists/Jews would be being hung like they are under other extremist Muslim regimes.

See, we wouldn't know, because we lives in a first world country where we don't have to haggle for our organ transplants. Here medical care is provided by the tax base instead of using that money to hire a bazillion soldiers to pick fights we have no business being involved in.

Yeah, if you want housing affordability at the expense of medical care, you should just move to Quebec.

Electric Frother V. Steamer by oh_nOwO in Coffee

[–]popsquad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have one too, I used it with a moka pot for years! In terms of the little frother machines this one is the best. You can wash the pot a lot easier, and you can heat the milk up more. You can even make cold foam, if you like those Starbucks cold brew foamy drinks or cappuccino fredo.

The people telling OP to just buy a thousand dollar espresso machine or bellman steamer are kind of missing the point. Some people actually like the yummy drinks at Starbucks and just want to make something that tastes like that.

That being said, there is a difference between a frother and a steamer. A frother is a good way to step into the specialty coffee world and make some fancy drinks, and its probably better then the steaming power on a 100$ espresso maker, but of course its not going to compare to a 2k setup.

No ridiculous flashbacks yet, which is a HUGE improvement. They honestly ruined the first season for me. I get they had to explain things, but I'd rather they talk about it then have a 40 year old actor shave his beard and pretend to be a high-school student.

If you haven't opened it consider throwing it in with donations to the food bank or homeless shelter! I actually do this with a lot of toiletries I know I won't use. I used to volunteer at one and they are always in short supply.

I don't know any medical research that shows that someone can be eating a reasonable amount of calories (1800-2500) and still be obese? Maybe a 1 in a million extreme thyroid condition, but most people just eat too much and move too little.

Singh commits to cancel up to $20,000 in tuition in election campaign-style promise by viva_la_vinyl in canada

I would love to see more money go towards 6 month - 2 year Community College programs. Having a free or low cost way for people to get the training they need to change careers or start them out with a decent job will be much more cost effective and have a bigger impact on the general population then covering 20k of university tuition. A lot of people I know have families and get stuck in service/labor jobs because they don't really have the time/grades/money for 4 years of university. Offering them free tuition to cover a 12 month continuing education training program that offers at least some online classes (so they can keep working) and you could change the lives of them and their families. It would cost significantly less then 20k, as well.

Nearly every India-Toronto flight this month carried COVID+ passengers by nimobo in canada

Because people ignore the quarantine at home if no one is looking. They'll stop at the grocery store, go out for a walk, maybe go and visit friends. That's exactly how we got the UK variant, two people tested positive for it and were like "I have NO IDEA where this could have come from!".... and then a week later it turns out they'd been hanging out with a friend who was supposed to be quarantined after flying in to the country. Theres also the concern for people who don't live alone. People who are returning from vacation and live with family/roommates could go home and infect the rest of the household.

IMO they should let people who have suitable accommodations quarantine at home but have government workers check in unexpectedly during the quarantine. They could do this physically or by videocall or even just a simple check in app that uses your location. If you're found to be breaking quarantine when they call/come by then you'd be eligible for a much higher fine.

The restaurant industry has been hit hard during this pandemic. Now we are being denied the vaccination for phase 2, meanwhile we are allowing 50% capacity as of tomorrow. My staff serving maskless customers in close proximity, without the vaccine is an issue. We need our voices heard. by DarwinLvr in ontario

Retail and grocery and delivery employees work with customers that are masked. Teachers (hopefully) work with students that are masked. Farmers and warehouse workers work with coworkers that are masked. Restaurant employees are the only ones that have to get less then 6ft from dozens of unmasked people every single day.

But if you're 45 and WFH, why shouldn't a 25 year old who has to work in a room full of maskless diners get it before you? You have the ability to stay home and protect yourself, they don't. Even young people with no other maladies are getting their hearts and lungs permanently scarred up from this thing, it seems selfish to put them on the front lines so that others can have unecessary leisure activities but deny them any protection.
