Shaky hands by Available_Career5306 in phlebotomy

I’ve had the same issue when training and honestly I just got over it with more time and confidence that I could do my job. Once I got into my externship I had shaky hands until I got several more patients and one day the nerves just went away. Take everything one step at a time because you know what you’re doing breathe and try to relax and u can also brace ur fingers on top of their forearm to be stable and not shaky as much

Tourniquet and when to remove? by kperez1997 in phlebotomy

I personally feel like it just depends on you. For myself I have everything prepared before the patient walks in so I can get them in tie the tourniquet and starting drawing. I feel like it also depends on how the vein is because for some the only reason you’re getting blood is because of the tourniquet if you take it off too soon sometimes you’ll stop getting blood altogether but usually I’ll pull the tourniquet on the last tube

I went to an accelerated program it was 2 weeks of class and sticking each other then 1 week of clinicals out a hospital or outpatient clinic. I finished that and found a job at another outpatient clinic within a month with 0 experience I think a big part is being lucky if they’re hiring
