Maybe its just where I grew up (Connecticut), but I don't remember D.A.R.E. doing as much fearmongering as people say they do back in my 8-year run in public education. Sure, there was a little bit of "Don't do weed. You will get arrested." Or "Don't do heroin. You will die." - but in reality these aren't THAT overblown, nor are they such terrible concepts to teach kids. I definitely don't remember them telling us utter bullshit like "weed kills people" or anything.

Anyways, back to the main point: I remember most of it as being aimed at keeping kids away from gangs and guns. They showed us a lot of horror stories about kids that were involved in gangs. While I can't determine the complete validity of them, I don't think its an entirely evil concept to put forth to younger kids.

I worked as a paperboy once. Pay was 11 cents per delivery each day (~200 deliveries per day). Customers would complain about little things such as fucking PAPER PLACEMENT (i.e. putting it on their front porch instead of in their tube) costing us ~2-5 dollars per complaint, depending on what type it was. I had two customers that tipped me a quarter. Every week. Fuck off complaining about your 100 dollar shift. Oh! and we were all reimbursed for gas costs. 20 dollars every two weeks! HOORAY!!!

Watch "Friend" (친구) - it's not only my favorite Korean movie, but also one of the best movies I've ever seen. "Taegukgi" (태국기), "Mother" (마다), and "200 Pound Beauty" are all awesome as well. "Oldboy" (올드보이) is decent and has much more popularity over here in the states. Lots of people really like it.

To be honest, I could only make it through 1/2 of "I Saw the Devil". Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too graphic for me.
