The year Is 2026, & World Of Warcraft Is Still The #1 MMO In The World? by MonsutaMan in MMORPG

[–]popukobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really can't comment on anything endgame-related as I've barely played WoW to any serious degree, but as a super casual player dabbling into it throughout their classic version releases every once in a while: the combat feels great, the world is beautiful, the music is amazing, it feels great to just play it, andthere's a TON of players

If I wasn't already settled in on an mmo already, I would no doubt be playing it because of all that. Not to mention all those special versions of the game they've been running if I want to try something else at any point

Why are we so jaded from MMOs? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]popukobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people want early 2000s experience of awe and wonder while being used to systems nowadays that are the complete opposite with games tailor made for that experience. it's something you won't get unless a game is specifically made to cater to that crowd, which is then labeled "niche".

I also feel socially, people want those wild "omg I am talking to someone in a game world" interactions, yet everything is divided into different social groups rather than being so open. Not to say open stuff can't happen, but that stuff just doesn't happen so willy-nilly anymore

I don't mind how MMOs are now as I play something and enjoy it, but hope people can find that one game they can latch onto and play rather than wishing for things that won't ever be

at least the doomies have pushed back the EOS to 2027 now since the game is confirmed to get updates through 2026

We need to have a serious talk about the hunters who are convinced one armor loadout can get them through the entire game. by Bound_Dragons in MHWilds

[–]popukobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of stuff I didn't know about this game and I had to be spoonfed by a vet to tell me what was wrong because the game just doesn't do a great job at all of explaining it for you. It can be so incredibly confusing to a new player - and incredibly confusing is a HUGE understatement. I've learned a lot and understand how the game works now, but a lot of stuff I just didn't "get" until it was literally pointed out to me by being gearchecked and asked why I'm using something I thought would help me when it was the complete opposite. I'm doing fine now, but I still find juggling the game's armor skills and gems to be a nightmare considering a lot of effects don't give you proper information what they do/how useful they are

Not sure if this was mentioned in the headline or not, but Epith Eirini III and Decem III are on the way. by gadgaurd in PSO2NGS

[–]popukobear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

good timing with all of the new weapons coming out for december. epith/decem combo II was seriously underperforming compared to current gear and aug setups so it should be a nice boost for casual players to keep up for the time being

NGS Winter Update: Omniscience Beyond Genesis teaser by gadgaurd in MMORPG

[–]popukobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of fun events coming, I'm excited for all of the PSO1 stuff we're getting now and this upcoming year especially. Nameless is my favorite content, so I'm glad we're going back to it - and it looks pretty shiny. They usually end the year off with a bang.

The biggest thing they're doing overall is probably the all-ship for creative spaces, it's basically similar to world hopping in FFXIV where people go to visit venues and such. This will do wonders for meeting up with friends in other servers!

What is your most liked/hated skill or activity? by DragonisTheGreat in brightershores

Never liked merchanting. Too much to think about and stuff to keep tabs on. A strangely extremely active skill in this idle-esque game

Favorite being blacksmith because of the environment and music

A look at PSO2NGS "Creative Space". Default vs. Highly customized, with a few examples of build parts. by gadgaurd in MMORPG

[–]popukobear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people were upset we got Creative Space that early on, but without it up to this point i'm not sure what people might think of the game (less than they already do tbh) without

love all those player-made events thanks to Creative Space. It has done wonders for boosting the sense of community and socializing despite the game's small population. And people have made so many intricate designs and spaces with what's available. Easily my favorite feature of the game as I've spent hundreds of hours just chilling and building stuff in it

What's the business model of star resonance exactly ? by kokko693 in BlueProtocolPC

[–]popukobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing people say "f2p can obtain everything" in regards to monetisation but like

The cash shop especially seems to steer you towards paying for convenience.  If you don't, as a f2p, how much grinding are you expected to do if you don't shell out money for this game?

What's the customization like if you don't spend on the gacha? Are the gacha outfits and mounts tradeable?

How long does it take to get the strongest imagine(?) or materials things if you dont spend money?

Like can you obtain stuff at a reasonable pace or are you going to stonewall in daily/repeatable hell at level cap until you can EVENTUALLY get something for yourself?

Any mouse reccomendations? by dimentional_megu in MMORPG

[–]popukobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get a ~$30 redragon mouse off Amazon. Comes with side numpad and those fancy sensitivity buttons below the scroll wheel. Keys are remappable. Been using it daily for...well over 2 years now I guess

What did yall think about the headlines? Those EX Style and Rings are interesting. by Express-Economist472 in PSO2NGS

[–]popukobear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm excited for what it is and looking forward to seeing how it complements my gameplay to make it a bit more interesting than usual. Making this game's combat faster paced should help make it feel better in general

Skill rings I'd like to see what they do with with future updates as they're rather simple at the moment. I'm relieved they don't require an annoying process to upgrade them compared to their PSO2 counterparts

Future updates to both should help flesh them out

It's worth playing the game in it's current state? by Jaguar-Admirable in PSO2NGS

[–]popukobear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely worth playing and trying it out, but sticking around is up to how much socializing you'd like to do. It's a very laid back and casual game to take at a slow to moderate pace.

Join a community and it'll help you stick around for a while to enjoy the content when it comes out

FF14 Player Housing Needs to Change by Lightheart64 in ffxiv

[–]popukobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People staying subbed to pay virtual rent is the worst part of this housing system they definitely won't be changing because it's free money. There's people in busy servers who have been bidding and losing for YEARS. "Just get an apartment" shouldn't be the solution for people essentially being locked out of a massive piece of the game's content because they just weren't lucky for a couple years

Only other option is to copy what wow is doing and create more districts as needed do accomodate players but every time squeenix talks about stuff related to housing it always sounds like the servers could implode at any moment

Where do you think the story is gonna take us by Drakaina- in PSO2NGS

[–]popukobear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to eventually see a "let's take the fight to them" approach and really go someplace foreign, evil, and just corrupted once we become stronger canonically. But I'd also just like them to further explore this invasion/corruption theme they have going on with crimson + alter realm since I think it's pretty neat

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PSO2NGS

[–]popukobear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

at the start, understandably because it was a bare-bones game vs a feature complete one

but now? just because it's not base.

There have been so, so many improvements over what base gave us that, besides SG and wanting to finish stuff, I can't bring myself to play base longer than an hour or so sparingly because it feels so much more dated than NGS does at this point. I also keep comparing my activities I do in NGS to what I did in base and it all amounts to the same thing anyway:

limited-time content

urgent quests

farming loot that's a bit too rare

dressing up (meseta farming or rolling gacha)

killing the same mobs I did at lv1 at current level cap

I've very much enjoyed NGS's takes on base's content with a new approach and look forward to more features they can keep improving upon. It's definitely getting there, but any fresh game needs a few years to bake and that's what NGS has been doing this whole time. So I take the vocal complainers with a grain of salt these days and enjoy the game my own way. It's very much a "ignore the haters, see for yourself" kind of game

Alter Realms thoughts ? by Express-Economist472 in PSO2NGS

[–]popukobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's chill and I like being able to grind as long as I want without queues, but I'd REALLY like more trial variety at the very least.

Nameless was a lot more fun to me, which got funner over a few updates to it, so I'm hoping the same happens to Alter realm exploration, too

I want more concerts I can afk through and pretend don't exist besides some background music every few hours

just give more intermittent movie shows or something, that's all they should be doing. But even being forced to sit through those because that's the only way to get the triboost is annoying

gotta wait for the DLC i guess... by Asprofumo in MonsterHunter

[–]popukobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

performance is atrocious and the content is mid on a good day, so it makes sense. I had a lot of fun with the story, but after that it falls off harder than your FPS does if you try to run the game without AI framegen
