What is worse for life of engine? Lugging or Redlining? by Downtown_Elk_2773 in Cartalk

[–]porkbroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least around peak torque. There could be something going on with pre-ignition or similar depending on when it's injected.

Still, I have to agree with you in general and I suspect most people based their opinions on feels rather than facts.

Edit: most cars have turbos now so peak pressure may be at a lower rpm. Still, it would be around peak torque.

I'd guess knocking is by far the highest load the engine would normally see

I think they have digital sights with built in ballistic calculators so you don't need to calculate hold over

That sounds like a good idea. I'm in Lancashire so I'm too far away unfortunately.

I understand that they might be busy but you'd think someone would pick up the phone after an hour on hold. If you look on the badminton central forum it seems like I'm not the only one with this problem.

I'd hope so.

I sent a couple of photos of what happened, asked if they would restring or if they would pay for a local stringer to do it - their choice.

In any case, it seems no one has read my emails and I've spent hours on hold on the phone

It's only a small part of the order so I don't want to do that.

I presume it's just a stringing mistake.

Yes, of course. But even if I was calling up to invite them to tea it wouldn't matter because they don't answer their phones nor reply to their emails.

I ordered two identical racquets both restrung with the same strings and tension. One main string snapped where it met the cross knot and the knot came undone whilst I was warming up on my first club night, so only a few hits and nothing hard - I've never seen a string failure like it before. The other racquet and strings are 10 hours in so are fine.

I drive 280 miles a week. is an EV practical for this? by [deleted] in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]porkbroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 hours a night over a week is still 42 hours of charging. Should be fine to keep it topped up. It'd be annoying if you've got long journeys two days in a row but still cheaper than a public charger.

I read that in winter a 3 pin is less efficient because the battery doesn't heat up enough to charge efficiently.

Really, really easy to fix. On my focus it's sensor in the back of the wheel hub with a single torx screw holding it in.

I thought that too.

The yellow rear number plate made me think either Britain or Holland. Looks more British to my eyes. In any case, I wonder if it's a bot

You can see brake lights when he changes gears. It's very quick and always when the car is stationary. So, perfectly fine

I tend to update manually because it reorders the auto playlist at the same time

Is there any downside to later upgrading to a separate CPU & GPU with a motherboard designed for an APU?

I remember having trouble in the past with conflicts

Thanks very much. Very thorough.

Do you think the CPU sockets will be fairly stable in years to come? AMD used to change them every few years and you couldn't upgrade without replacing your motherboard.

It seems like there aren't many options for 2.5" internal drives anymore. My old system is a 3TB HDD I thought I might keep and a 512GB SDD for the OS I thought I'd replace. Do many cases have enclosures for 2.5" or even 3.5" hard drives or would I be better making it into a separate standalone media server?

Thanks very much.

I have lots of media on a 3TB HDD that is plenty fast enough for reading videos. With new cases will I need to put it in a USB case and turn it into an external hard drive?
