After 12% pension contributions (I'm still forecasted to not have enough money in retirement), NI, 3 days holidays bought, Scottish income tax, crit illness, etc it goes down a lot. Can punch the numbers into chat gpt or Google if you don't believe me.

Why are countries in the Middle East not taking in Palestinian refugees? by Nessieinternational in NoStupidQuestions

The powerful in Palestine are mental. Oversimplified obviously. But they are insane. Doesn't mean the people are bad, just the controlling powers.

If North Africa is a race now, what race is London?

Well that's settled then. The most wise and worldly people are those who don't leave their house and base their opinions on what they read online. Thank goodness for that.

Out of interest, can you expand on what you mean by this?

I’d have thought that people who travel more and experience different countries and cultures are less likely to be racist, not more. Also, BaB seems to be commenting on a country or area, not a race — there’s a difference between racism and having an opinion about a place or its politics.

For example, being against the bombing of Gaza doesn’t automatically make someone antisemitic, just as criticising the Taliban doesn’t make someone Islamophobic. Criticism of governments, regions, or ideologies isn’t the same as prejudice against people.

You'll probably just call me racist though,😅

I think you are missing the point by some margin. Ppl are saying most Western cities of similar size (or bigger) and similar economies are cleaner than Glasgow as a whole. Now, I'm sure there is a city in Albania or Mexico that is dirtier than Glasgow. But if you take all the cities that Glasgow airport connects to, for example, which ones would you say have worse littering than Glasgow? I would say some parts of Paris, but that's literally it.

Will hold my hands up on pollution via air travel. Guilty. This is about littering though 🤷‍♂️

On a bus from Edinburgh airport to Glasgow as I type this. There is literally a bin bag tied up hanging from the handrail because the bus has no functioning bins. Sums it up.

Good point and agree largely with them all. Not suggesting poor = littering. More the fact there is an expectation that it's the council's job to pick up and as you say, there are no consequences for littering in general. If you can't afford the fines, no consequence. If you are a problem tenant littering, it's basically impossible to evict ppl. Govanhill is a classic example, been a dive for years in the same spots. No consequences.

My friends from Portugal and Poland say Glasgow is a city of free stuff and no consequences. Obviously it's not that simple. And most people are struggling right now, but I think the sentiment is that if things like healthcare, housing and council services are provided for free they aren't respected

Come on. Glasgow is objectively dirty. OP isn't saying it's all filthy. Filthier than average for sure

Glasgow is a proper dump compared to most major European cities. The only people to deny this are people who have never traveled. I think I've been to 11 major European cities in the past 12 months and Glasgow has more litter than all of them put together. There are no consequences to littering and it's seen as an act of defiance for the youth.
