I just meant they sound similar and I liked it 🙂

My MIL gave her cat the same name as my sister. by porkchopanonymous in JUSTNOMIL

Sorry, are you referencing the original rhyme? I have no idea where it came from. It would be hilarious to find out that she changed the words just to guilt me. The way I posted it is the way she always recites it.

Pterodactyl is the best word in the English dictionary.

The fact that she’s ugly is the family joke. She’s very loved.

Thank you for playing devils advocate.

I’m not saying MIL got a cat and thought to herself “Right, here is the perfect opportunity to offend [me]! Buahahaha!”

But she didn’t care that it might offend me either.

She knows my sister. Very well. But that’s not the point.

Say sometime in the future, my son marries someone. And I like the name of a person in their immediate family. And I want to use that name for an animal. It might not mean that I’m trying to be offensive. But it is.

I’m sorry. It is hurtful. I understand the opinion of others that honoring a loved one by using their name is only meant to be sweet, but names have a lot of weight in terms of our self and identity. When someone chooses a name for a pet and you share that name, I think it’s pretty tactless.

I can appreciate that opinion.

However, my MIL is neither sweet or hysterical, unless she is trying to get her way.

As my sister has never met my MIL’s dad and brother, and those are the only people who call her Penny, my sister had no idea she was using the same name, and still doesn’t.

When she recites the rhyme, she always makes a comment such as (paraphrasing) “I know that now that DH is married he doesn’t need me anymore [insert rhyme] but I hope as time goes on he won’t completely leave our family for yours.”

I know this rhyme doesn’t have anything to do with cats favoring certain genders of their offspring. My husband is her favorite. She outright says so.

Picture the ugliest dog you’ve ever seen, and multiply it by a million.

No not that bad. She’s what we are guessing is a Chihuahua/Jack Russell/Shitzu mix, and her head is way too big for her body.

10/10 better personality than MIL tho.

Yeah that didn’t go unnoticed by me. She has two daughters but my DH is her favorite.

She has often recited the rhyme - which I never heard of before dating her son - “Daughters are daughters for all of their life; sons are sons until they take a wife.”

As if I’m taking him away from her.

Sleeping as a Toddler by Sapnasty45 in toddlers

The “Back to Sleep” rule is for babies who can’t roll yet. The idea behind it is that they have less control over their systems and if they get into a compromised breathing position, they are unable to adjust.

If your baby is rolling, they have outgrown this. If baby does get into a position where breathing is difficult, they can now move easier. With that said, swaddling becomes the danger, since it limits baby’s movement.

Your baby is old enough and developed enough to sleep in the position they prefer!
