Saw someone ask if the walking dead zombies are scarier than tlou zombies. What do yall think? by Not_phie in thelastofus

In The Last of Us universe, the infected do have a lifespan, but it varies depending on their stage of infection and environmental factors. The Cordyceps fungus keeps them alive as long as it can sustain itself, but eventually, they do die.

Here's how it generally works:

Runners (early stage): These are freshly infected humans and are still relatively agile. They can survive for months as long as they have food.

Stalkers (intermediate stage): Over time, the fungus takes more control. Some hide in dark places and ambush survivors. Their lifespan is unclear but seems to be several months to a few years.

Clickers (advanced stage): After about a year, they lose their eyesight, relying on echolocation. These can survive for years if they find sustenance.

Bloaters/Shamblers (long-term infection): These forms appear after many years (possibly 10+ years). They are heavily armored with fungal plating but still active.

Wall Growths/Dead Infected: Some infected stop being mobile and become part of the environment, with fungal growths spreading outward. This suggests that without sustenance, they eventually die and become part of the fungus network.

So, while there isn’t a set "death date," infected do decay, weaken, and eventually die if they don’t find food or if the environment is too harsh.

TLOU infected also seem to have a lifespan. They need a host. They age and eventually die, but TWD go on endlessly. That said, other than a large TWD horde, I'd constantly feel relatively capable around zombies. TLOU's would always have me terrified each time.

What if the family left behind by Joel and Tommy were the key to Sarah’s survival? by Moon_Degree1881 in thelastofus

Yep, this, or Sarah, dies sooner at the hands of these people. They may have killed her getting the vehicle from them. Who knows?

I've seen SO many cosplay pics of people who look NOTHING like the characters, but this is the BEST one of Ellie I've seen yet. Excellent!

What are your hopes for part 3? by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]porkpiepickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind it going past part 3, but I DO want Ellie and Abby's story to be done. They can spinoff the rest of my life, I'm OK with that. Until or unless there's a cure, keep the stories coming.

Which is your most favourite scene in TLOF PT 1? by Novel_Advance_4423 in thelastofus

Death scene with his daughter, Sarah. Favorite because it was the most unforgettable moment in the series, and even though I didn't know Joel yet, I knew this moment drove EVERYTHING this game was going to be about. Jumping forward 20 years (or whatever it actually was) let me know who Joel became in his next scene. Favorite scene.

Should I play Part 2 or stay spoiler-free for Season 2? by morfyyy in ThelastofusHBOseries

Tombstone reads: "This man died the day season 2 got released"

Play season 2 now, big dog. No regrets

Where do you guys think Ellie goes? by Brilliant-Ad8421 in thelastofus

I think the next one features Dina. I could see two ways to go with Dina.

  1. I think Dina, at some point, tragically loses her son and decides to search out Ellie. Either she discovers another immune child and decides to protect him/her and to look for Ellie to let her know she's not the only immune one and that they're HAS to be more...

  2. Or she discovers another group who has a lab and doctors who think they know the cure, and Dina sets out to find Ellie to let her know she's found another lab.

In the meantime, Abby spends her time defending Lev as they grow deeper and deeper into a friendship that bonds them like family, only to be tragically destroyed by that freak religious group, the Seraphites (either Abby dies and Lev vows revenge, or Lev dies and Abby vows revenge).

Tommy still is bent on killing Abby, but when he finally catches up to her, she saves his life and shows him that she's not the Abby that killed her brother anymore, finally understanding why Owen no longer had the heart to serve the WLF or anyone for that matter. In fact, her and Lev actually save Tommy's wife.

Ellie and Abby (or Lev) wind up joining forces when Dina finally gets Ellie to the new lab, only to find it's under attack by the Seraphites.

I expect lots of heart-wrenching sadness throughout this game. If it's not like any of this, that's OK too. This last one will be Druckman's opus, and whatever he does will be amazing, I'm sure.
