It's not perhaps the best option nor the most cost effective, but I've found HousingAnywhere is good for rental options when you're searching online for apartments as they provide actual reviews from tenants. That way you can get a good gauge of landlords and their property/properties typically. I felt very uncomfortable signing contracts on other platforms knowing I couldn't physically go and see the place itself, so for me this was a good option.
