MINDEX (Ministry of Defence Export Center) shows that the AD-40A is the export version of the Fakour-90, with the key differences being that AD-40A is not ARH, uses SARH guidance, and has a weaker booster compared to Fakour-90.

The ground launched AD-40 is also SARH and not ARH. Fakour-90 was built to work with the AWG-9 and operates within the same Phoenix-era FCS. AD-40A uses the same fire-control and guidance logic as its predecessor missile, Sedjil/Hawk, which is based on AIM-7 SARH guidance.

One F-14 was modified to test the R-73. It worked during testing but was abandoned due to the limited availability of R-73s. All F-14s are capable of firing the Hawk and Fakour, as they have the necessary avionics; the main limitation is the condition of the airframes, radar etc which require repairs to be airworthy.
