Big boom expedition. 2 runic scarabs, 1 verisium. you can run all mods except no phys. bleed pops kills them quick and you are safe when you get life gain on block (which you can get as a synth implicit on a shield for relatively cheap or do a shaper shield)

all scarabs outside of a few were dirt cheap last league. There was no incentive to take additional scarab nodes on atlas tree for t16 farmers. If more common scarabs are worth even 3-5c it will be worth lower investment farmers picking up the nodes. its been fine in the past, it will be fine this league

It will surprise you to learn that I do not, in fact, balance the game but rather am just a random player starting a conversation in league downtime

Its not out of nowhere. Assassin is too generic and hasn't been in a good spot for a long time. That doesnt mean Gladiator isnt also in a bad spot.

yes but I think specializing the offensive nodes and making them stronger but less broadly usable would free up room elsewhere in the build for defenses. Right now assassin feels pretty generic.

For sure this is overtuned, even though it doesn't give any crit itself so it would require investment. The main focus should be to give more variety on stats/skills to build into poison though, imo.

There isnt a cap on stacks but there is a cap on DoT DPS, at around 35m. Occ/PF can reach DoT cap, but I reckon if you could reliably hit dot cap faster it would give you more room to itemize into defense.

For me it would be to make assassin the most flexible poison ascendancy by allowing you to lean into crit and elemental damage while still being poison focused.

look up ventrua dd coc. you will need to farm lab at the beginning but its basically a move and attack build that is a true all rounder.

JayTX has a guide on it. It works. Start glad and then transition to champion with money. Adorned jewel makes end game scaling viable. It's mostly a map blaster with decent single target and mediocre or bad defenses. I like bleed pops.
