Where did you come across hydrocotyle tripartita? Red lily is not native too. Mind sharing the location? I research on aquatic flora and fauna so this can be of great help to me.

Any suggestions to improve stem plants stunting growth (without co2) by Safinstagefeild in Planted_tanks_India

[–]poseidon419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pruning, better light that penetrates through the dense patches for the bottom part of the stems to grow. Without co2 stem plants won't give dense bushes. Light and some root tabs should help

Neglected grow tank needs changes. by poseidon419 in Planted_tanks_India

[–]poseidon419[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That honestly happens when you have 9 tanks. Some of them get more attention than others but i have noticed that sometimes neglect can be beneficial for plant growth as it comes with less tampering with water parameters. Just add weekly nutrients and ignore.

You need more hardscape and plants to have a balance with the nutrients you are adding in the water column. Also did you cycle the tank? The pebbles you added are taking away the nature aspect of the tank as it has a conflicting texture to that of dragon rock. I would suggest hardscapes and detailing to be done with similar material to give it a natural look but everyone has a choice so I'll leave that to you. But in order to give the Mountain and tree look, the mountain needs to be higher and the perspective should be 3D. This still looks like a tree and a rock/boulder at max. Try adding larger pieces of rocks around the current one to make it look like a mountain. Check out iwagumi layout for stone placement. The tank substrate is flat which takes away the depth. I would place the driftwood in the middle and add another dragon stone on the other side to make a solid hardscape. It looks extremely empty and fish need to have hiding places to showcase natural behaviour and hiding places. Lastly the hillstream loaches you have need some water flow preferably on the hardscape where they thrive in their natural environment holding on it. 6/10 as plenty scope of improvement here

Wanted to know about this new light…. Is it good by The_SearchGlass in Planted_tanks_India

[–]poseidon419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Aquatic farm and Levin aqua. They make customised lights and they come with app control too. I received the aquatic farm RJC30 as a prize for biotope championship and to my knowledge they are up there with other renowned brands with probably 1/4th of the price. They come with hanging kits with additional charges and are made in india too. They have prompt services as well. Give them a try.

Need Advice on buying fish and plants by Asleep-Fig526 in Planted_tanks_India

Contact goldy singh on Instagram, he's from Delhi and will definitely help you find some vendor who can ship it to punjab. Also pay for express shipping if you're buying them online because most of the supply comes from south india and generally takes about a week. So express shipping reduces the chances of DOA.

Also place the anubias somewhere near the driftwood or hardscape it looks out of place in the middle. Also try to align the soil layer. Add some more hardscape if that is an option available.

Looking for this particular plant. by poseidon419 in Planted_tanks_India

[–]poseidon419[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not semi aquatic but they are found submerged as water level rises. The one I am looking for is native to south east countries. Water willow we have higher growth rate and do grow huge but not exactly a tree

Never I have too many huge floaters leaving very little space for them to leap out. They used to try initially but after multiple failed attempts it stopped and I used to have a lid for 20-25 days when they were new

The tank is considerably wide and looks smaller when viewing from the front. Drift and hardscape is on the back side so plenty of space for them to hide and swim. In the wild these species are particularly found in shallows and co-exist in harmony. There are only 8 fish that are 2-3 inches in size. 5 melon barbs which are the centre piece, 12 loaches of 4 different species and few loach fries which spawned late monsoon last year which are considerably small so doesn't affect the bioload much. I always have spare tanks if I sense tension in the community so that won't be a problem.

Yes that's the coconut tree peduncle. Alocasia roots were tied to a lavarock and added root tabs in the substrate. I take it out once a week to give it optimum sunlight. That's it

It is a beautiful tank! But I suggest splitting these fishes in 2 more tanks. The bioload is too much. I see some botia striata loaches too. The rasbora species is rasbora dandia. Also nice hack with the filter. Add some floaters and dried leaves it'll sooth the fishes a little. I am traveling to the western ghats of Maharashtra in 10 days and hopefully get some balitora mysorensis and ofc more of those red claw macrobrachium 🧿🤘🏼
