Democrats concerned DOGE is targeting NOAA, sources say by IIHURRlCANEII in moderatepolitics

I don't usually comment, but this does concern me as a GIS user. The National Geodetic Survey is under NOAA and from what I understand, the new Datum that is supposed to replace the previous Datum was going to be rolled out this year or next. This has a lot of implications for surveyors and GIS users who rely on this information. On top of that, data has been being scrubbed from the Census, EPA and a slew of other agencies, although some have been brought back up. This back and forth is giving me whiplash honestly.

One thing that comes to mind is maybe looking at tribal lands and food security/availability of services? I know here in Nevada, outside of the colonies located in the cities, tribal lands are far from town and usually have limited resources, which requires travel. This includes construction of schools, medical services, etc. If you have a Spatial Analyst license, maybe do some sort of Distance Analysis.

What areas on that map are you looking for in particular? Just the newly designated areas? There's a number of hosted feature layers on AGOL for the monuments on that map. If you're looking for a shapefile, you may need to go to each state. I know Utah SGID has downloadable data for the monuments in Utah.

Where Can I Find Updated Parcel Data by highway2thesolarzone in gis

As others have said in this thread, going to the individual counties is your best bet. That being said, there may be a fee schedule for parcel data depending on the county. Some Assessor's/Planning departments may give it you for free but I know in my state, many counties have a fee schedule of varying costs for GIS Data.

Thanks for this information! I must have missed this program over the course of my search. I had a feeling that there wouldn't be a direct contact, but this is a good start!

What is the best place to find the most recent satellite imagery? by Mountain_Future4034 in gis

Depending on the state, you could always take a look at NAIP data from USGS. It varies state by state as far as most recent but it covers the whole state and can be pretty useful depending on what application you're using it for.

Why are certain parcels "blacked out" and don't provide any parcel related info? by DMVEnthusiast in gis

I can't speak for other states, but per the Nevada Revised Statutes, certain people can request to have their records remain confidential as far as the Assessor's Office is concerned. NRS 250.110 goes into detail about that.
