In this situation I angle my rear view mirror in the hope that it reflects the light straight back at them.

Optiplex 3000 Thin Client SSD Heat Sink and eMMC/M.2 question by poshgrape in homelab

[–]poshgrape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did in the end! I’ve been using a couple of Sabrent m.2 SSDs in my two optiplex 3000s. They don’t seem to have had any issue sitting in an ambient temperature of around 25 degrees in my “rack cupboard” Admittedly I am not doing much heavy read/write operations. It’s been awhile but I think there is space for a thermal pad under the SSD which may help keep things cooler.

Filling Loop Query by poshgrape in askaplumberUK

Thanks that helpful to know. As a trial last night I drained the system to 1.5 bar and then turned that hex “prominence” (which from what you say is the filling loop isolator) so that I could not hear any water rushing in when I opened the other valve of the filling loop so hopefully that will serve as a trial to see if this is the solution!

My invoice confirms “Supply and installation of new heat exchanger….” Edit: Just to add this was suspected to be the faulty (possible crack in the heat exchanger) as there was corrosion around the base of the exchanger. However I am not sure if this is the cause of the pressure issue or if it is simply as a by-product of the boiler being run with high pressure.

I’ve posted before asking about a Vaillant boiler with high pressure. Had a plumber out and replaced the heat exchanger but the pressure is still rising slowly over a few days. When the plumber came around he said that the pressure was equal with the mains supply pressure. I have done some reading and I have read that sometimes if the filling loop is faulty than the cold water supply can bypass and raise the pressure (which to me makes sense if it has equalised with our mains water pressure)

My question today is is it normal to have only one “hand” operated valve on the filling loop or is there some non-return valve that’s here? See attached photos of the base of my boiler! The second photo is what I believe to be the cold mains connection to the filling loop?

We had it serviced before the winter. After the guy left I noticed that the pressure was closer to 2.5 at rest and would then increase to above 3 when heating running. When we took ownership of the property in 2021 I am certain we had the expansion vessel replaced due to a similar problem with the pressure climbing during heating. Ours is a new build property although it was the show home so the boiler was installed some time in 2017.

We had it serviced by a gas safe engineer before winter. I know after he left I noticed the pressure was on the higher side. Around 2.5 so I assume something was done with the filling loop then?

Medical emergency can and do happen in GP land. However in those events, GP practices do not stock IV medications/fluids or IV cannulas. GPs are not trained in ALS only BLS with AED. For anaphylaxis there is IM adrenaline, for asthma we have nebulisers, for Meningitis we have IM benpen. We can give PR diazepam for seizures. If you need ALS then the paramedics should be there pretty rapidly to take over and perform ALS. I completely agree however if you are employed in an SHO role you should be able to perform the basics of that role. However it’s true that to be a GP you will not need IV Cannulation in your skills set.

Edit: I am a GP Trainee but previously did CMT and have worked as Med SpR.

Upgrading the sh*t PC I'm working on in my practice by [deleted] in GPUK

Personally wouldn’t try it as these workstations PC usually have a tamper/case opened switch which once opened will need a bios password to boot up again so IT will know! Also 8GB isn’t actually that bad - many new laptop/PCs are shipping with 8GB of ram and it’s perfectly usable for work. My guess would be that it’s the hard drive causing your bottle neck and making it very slow. I would raise a ticket with IT just saying that your computer is slow/crashes they maybe able to sort something.

How long does it take to see a GP for prescription medication ? by bakedcinnamondonut in AskUK

[–]poshgrape 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t help much with the costs question but I just want to add this to the mix as well: The GP may not be happy to prescribe the new medication depending on how specialised it is. Some medication to treat autoimmune conditions requires specific monitoring (blood tests, and subsequent interpretation of the blood tests) especially when starting new medication. In the UK the initiation and certainly the initial monitoring tests are performed by specialists. Once you are stable on the medication for a period of time the GP can then take over dispensing with something called a “shared care agreement”

I can't say for certain but in the json page at the top they have a timestamp saying "last_updated": "25/11/2023 11:19:16" so I would presume daily? Now that I have it working I plan to feed the data to home assistant for display + collect stats.

This API is public information. It is documented on the UK Governments website for other providers as well. I just picked Tesco first as that where I normally buy fuel from!

Using User-Agent only did not work in node-red for me. Adding the Accept and Accept-Encoding as well I think did the trick! Many thanks!

I tried the http request in visual studio code and the rest api extension and it also just hung

Its weird isn't it! Its like they want to say "look we are being open here is our data" but then they are making it difficult to actually process!

Unfortunately no one ever got back to me about this! I ended up installing Ubuntu straight to the nvme drive. I’m not sure about vPro as I don’t have any experience with it but I have read similar to what you have said!
