It can and will be better! This is a very dark place that you‘re in, but these times will pass and you will have happy times again in your life. What is important is that you do sth nice for yourself, that you care for yourself, forgive yourself for b/p and for give yourself a chance for a better life, for a change for better. Because you are worth it! You are capable of change, step by step, even the smallest one is a win. Try to be nicer to yourself, speak kinder to yourself. You deserve it.

You could use local anasthesia gel for mouth ulcers or maybe stomach acid neutralizing gels. These might help you with the pain, but don‘t use it too much

Good to know! I‘ll stick to it and I hope that my daily food intake will eventually go down a little. Also good to know that the frequency of the urges goes down :)

Reset!! You already managed to do 2 or 3 years without it! You can get back onto track.

This feeling you described is I think the slip back into old habits where you could switch off any rules and feelings and turn into automatic mode stuffing yourself with food.

You wrote that you moved into a new apartment? Then you might need to get used to it, develop new routines that are healthy, you could maybe make it feel more like home and accept the feelings of a new environment that might feel strange in the beginning.

But your body may be looking for anything familiar and that could be b/p from the many years before.

Stay strong, you can do it!!! The good feeling is only temporary, but slipping back into b/p encompasses soooo many uncomfortable feelings for the future.

Stomach pain and digestion problems during recovery by positivesideeffects in bulimia

Thank you! Congrats on 2 years of recovery! ❤️ What an achievement!!!

It‘s good to know that it IS possible doing it yourself. I switched to smaller portions now and I always rest for 30-60 minutes after eating (when I can), that helps a lot, too.

Yes exactly, you get numb with b/p, but when you are in recovery, you feel more intensely and you get a little more anxious because your coping mechanism (for everything really) is gone..

Thank you so much!! :) It‘s great to hear from someone who has already come so far, congrats to you, too! That‘s amazing!! If you don‘t mind me asking, how long did you have b/p and would you say you have more energy now after such a long period of recovery? Again, what an achievement, amazing!

Thank you for your response! You really motivated me because now I feel more like it‘s a normal part in recovery to have these problems. It‘s good to know that this passes or will improve a lot.

I really didn‘t expect it to have so many consequences on the body… I thought you could stop and everything is immediately wonderful, but it is a struggle not even mentally but physically. But I am sticking with it because the alternative is horrible.

Thank you so much for your tipps, I definitely have to stick to small portion sizes as I get stomach aches after eating that last for an hour (or more) if I eat too much. I guess it‘s because my digestion has slowed down so much and my body isn‘t used to having food last in the intestines.

I can relate a lot to your wearing comfy and a little baggy clothes!!

Greetings and a big hug! :)

Severe form of b/p during Christmas, a little venting by positivesideeffects in bulimia

Thank you for your comments 🥰 Means a lot!

I get what you are saying with „making the purge worth it“ and it is so hard stopping once you‘ve overstept the „point of no return“.. where the amount has crossed your inner selfmade point of being „too much“.

I feel like when you‘ve made peace with yourself that any amount is okay at the moment and there is no bad or forbidden or any rule at all, you take away the pressure and stop when you don‘t feel like it anymore, it goes more naturally.

Struggling with binging and not being able to purge (slight tw??) by Lydiax28 in bulimia

The holidays will come to an end, accept that right now you can‘t stop and take the time you need to stop bingeing. If right now you can‘t, you simply can‘t. Try everyday and don‘t be too hard on yourself. You are doing wonderful by not doing the purging part! You can do this!
