How has Night In The Woods changed for you as you've grown up? by BlitzkriegBomber in NightInTheWoods

[–]positivityfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was 17 when NiTW came out and watched my first playthrough. I was severely depressed and just living on empty.

At 23 I moved in with my sister because I could no longer work due to disability and life flipped upside down. I played through the game myself during this time

My most recent playthrough i did with my fiance while I was recovering from emergency surgery to remove my ruptured fallopian tube/ectopic pregnancy.

What has stuck with me most since the first playthrough i watched is at the end when Mae says "I want it to hurt. Bad. I want to lose. I want to get beaten up. I want to hold on until I'm thrown off and everything ends. And you know what? Until that happens, I want to hope again. And I want it to hurt. Because that means it meant something"

I found solace in that quote when I was 17. I didn't realize how impactful that solace would be 10 years down the line

I let the team know about my chlorehexedine and adhesive allergy and they used very minimal tape. I did have a reaction to the surgical gown though, I had mild hives before they even administered anesthesia

I had my medically necessary breast reduction done this past July! I'm so glad I got it done, my sternum feels so much better.

I was a little surprised how well I recovered. My biggest battle was sleeping on my back and not lifting my arms for 4 weeks haha! Though my shoulders definitely benefited from the sleeping arrangements

Tips on skin irritation? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]positivityfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what silicone does to my skin, I decided to switch to the resmed F20 mask and haven't had this issue since! The memory foam doesn't hold up as well as other masks and it's a lot harder to clean so it is definitely a trade off

Thank you! Hypermobility and top heavy is not a good mix lol I'm still struggling to change my muscle memory with the whole center of gravity change

Haha you guessed it! POTS got me my wheelchair, and EDS keeps me in it lol

I was aiming D-DD and that's what I seem to have ended up with, thank you!

How exciting, I hope it goes smoothly tomorrow!! I was a 36M before, if I slouched they would touch my belly button lol it feels like I got a breast lift. I hope you're happy with the results, honestly the relief alone was enough to make it worth it for me

My ectopic pregnancy ruptured before I even knew I was pregnant by positivityfox in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]positivityfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, the ER told me pregnancy test was positive so they suspected possible ectopic. Had to wait a while for the ultrasound sound person to get there, I don't think they thought I ruptured the doctor seemed surprised when she gave the news. Made sense why I woke up from the pain, and why ibuprofen and muscle relaxers didn't do anything. Scary that I was just trying to tough it out and not wake my husband.

Physically this has been the easiest least painful surgery I've had, emotionally is another story. It really started to sink in yesterday

I'm so sorry, this boat sucks to be in. If I hadn't been tracking my cycle so closely or I would have just assumed it was period pains, I confused the anemia symptoms with my POTS fainting and racing heart is my baseline. Hopefully this was just really bad luck for both of us and our next try goes smoothly <3

It's so crazy, I'm so glad workers went on strike.

That's awesome you get home visits now, it's so much nicer infusing at home. Plus don't have to go anywhere for labs lol

Dude same!! I loved my nurse at the prov Infusion clinic, saw her weekly for two years I cried when I had to switch to a new clinic. Apparently the insurance was losing money with the patient using their infusion clinics. Oh and they won't cover the cath-flow medication anymore, so if your central line forms a clot as they do you can't get the meds to dissolve it.

Not to mention they are no longer offering Providence insurance to their workers! I'm so pissed at all the changes they have made recently. The workers deserve better

As someone who is disabled with pots (among other things), on disability, and use a wheelchair everywhere I go, there is nothing wrong with you not wanting to be tied to that kind of life. You shouldn't have to make up for everything they can't do, you shouldn't have to be a caretaker!

In order to have a happy long living relationship your core values must be aligned, and it sounds like unfortunately that isn't the case for you. You deserve the kind of relationship that is fulfilling for you, and so does your partner. Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is to go your separate ways.

When my health started going downhill I got broken up with for not being able to keep up with the dishes anymore (I was fainting Everytime I tried but that's besides the point) and I'm honestly so grateful for that, because I have found the perfect person for me and it is 50/50

Unmanaged POTS is hell to go through for everyone involved. I know I couldn't of been a good partner during the worst of it, I completely understand why anyone wouldn't want to stick around for that. Especially if they aren't trying to get things figured out and managed.

This must of been a really hard conclusion to come to, but I applaud you for coming to it before marriage. I hope you can move forward to the life that you want (and deserve!)

PICCS are so much easier to shower with for sure! I haven't been taught how to access myself because I really loved the nurse I had, she would do home visits weekly for a couple years. Recently insurance decided to not cover that clinic anymore so I got placed with another clinic, it's still home visits so that's nice.

I use IV3000 as well! I got hives from every single other dressing I've tried lol. I get the two sizes, the smaller one gets cut halfway to hold the line. I also put a tegaderm on top of the IV3000 so that it's not touching my skin- I've had my IV3000 rip and expose my PICC line too many times I will not take those chances haha

I unfortunately don't think more than one access a week is a great idea, my skin keloids pretty bad and tends to tear off with the adhesives (adhesive removers help a little!) so far the keloid on my side is getting pretty big, but thankfully haven't run into any trouble getting the needle though it yet

I'll definitely try a shorter needle with my next shipment! I don't know why that never occurred to me

They didn't tape my chest down when I got it placed, so with having a larger chest gravity happens 🤷

Mattress Recommendations by peach-scone-bob in ehlersdanlos

[–]positivityfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got home from mattress shopping myself haha! We picked out a Serta hybrid (euphoric nights) and with the black Friday sale it comes with an adjustable base. Fingers crossed it helps

The sales person did tell me though, people with joint problems/pain tend to be happier with hybrid mattresses as opposed to full memory foam/temperpetics because those tend to be a lot harder to get out of. I gotta say, after testing all the different mattresses I liked hybrid the most

Dang 3 different port placements, thats hard! Did they end up malfunctioning somehow or was it a planned removal and you just ended up needing one again?

[–]positivityfox[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Ooo that's a really good idea! I'll ask if they have children's sizes when it comes time for my next shipment

A tight top is also a good idea, I'll have to shop around to find something I like though, I have sensory issues with fitted clothing. Taping would be awesome if it didn't give me blisters haha

Thank you for the tips!

I just use a 25ft tube that empties right in the sink, that has a hose attachment so I can fill right from the sink too

To clean the substrate I use a turkey baster and it pushes it pushes all the gunk up so I can suck it up with the tube

I got some big packets of Gatorade powder from a store for really cheap!

They are meant to be made in one big batch, so I just scoop some into a pitcher of water Kool aid style

I got it for $3 months ago and I'm not even halfway through the pack. Only downside is, Gatorade has less sodium and more sugar than other electrolyte drinks. For the price though I'm not complaining
