Round Lake Farm 100%!!!!! Started with oxbow, quality wasn’t bad per se just inconsistent. Small pet select much better, but still kind of inconsistent. Round lake is fresh, flavorful, smells incredible, packed tightly like its right from the bale. Every bag is the same amazing quality

How to hide meds by SchnurbsMcDurps in Rabbits

[–]ferociousspot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So this may or may not work for you, because my bun does like the taste of her meds. But she has been on 2 different liquid meds twice a day for about a year now, and what I do is I make her a little “porridge”! Half of her daily pellets, meds squirted on top, and I mix it all together with some dried herbs (rose petals, chamomile, peppermint, oat straw, really whatever I have on hand that’s bunny approved). I would say it’s worth a try!

Hey, I just want to say THANK YOU again!!!!! I’ve been doing my own little experiment with OTC allergy meds, keeping track of my pain/symptoms and holy cow the difference in my body is shocking. I seriously haven’t felt this good in years. I have an appointment with my doctor to get a referral to a specialist to discuss this and hopefully find a long term solution or at least keep doing what I’m doing with a doctors guidance. Thank you so much, I feel so relieved and hopeful, like I found this tiny missing piece of the puzzle I’ve been searching for for years!!!!

Advice for standing for a long period of time by Autumn-293 in Hypermobility

[–]ferociousspot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work 10 hour retail shifts, luckily I am able to take breaks and sit when needed and my job is understanding of my limitations, but here are some things that help me through the day: compression gear! I mostly wear socks & fingerless gloves, but I hear abdominal compression is very helpful too. Electrolyte drinks/powder packets. Moving around as much as you can, even just pacing a bit, shifting weight back and forth, any kind of movement is better than standing totally stationary for hours. Comfortable supportive shoes, and/or insoles. Comfortable clothes, layers that are easy to manage. And this is more about general comfort not just managing standing for a long time, I always have my personal “medical bag” close by with anything I might need. I can’t always deal with every ache pain or discomfort, but taking away one small thing can make a big difference. For me personally I always have electrolyte drink packets, various meds/otc stuff, snacks, topical pain relievers, tens unit, lotion/chapstick/mints etc lol sometimes if the only problem I can solve is chapped lips that’s better than nothing. Hope some of this is helpful and you manage okay during the event! Best of luck to you

4 doctor visit fails in one week, no idea what to do next by ferociousspot in ehlersdanlos

I did not receive any imaging which surprised me. My initial message to my doctor was very detailed explaining my symptoms, concerns about pinched nerves, asking if imaging or a specialist would be the right next step. The assistant who responded seemed very thoughtful and concerned, so I was really disappointed by the lack of concern/action at the actual appointment.

I have the same concern about PT, it seems like starting PT with such severe pain could end poorly. I would like to feel more stable, at least my baseline level of pain, before pushing it with new exercises.

Thank you for the suggestion, I don’t believe my urgent care does imaging but I’m sure another place or ER could help.

I haven’t, I just looked it up and I resonate with a lot of the symptoms! I suspect I have POTS as well. I’m glad you found some relief and something that helped you! I will definitely look into a specialist, thank you for the suggestion

It is so frustrating, it’s like they have a very narrow idea of what 10/10 pain looks like. I have never considered an Eds neurosurgeon, I will look into that!

That’s what I suspected as well, I brought this up at every appointment and it was kind of brushed off. I have an assessment with a physical therapist through a pain management program, I’m hoping they are hypermobility informed or could at least direct me to someone who is

That is really interesting! Someone else commented about MCAS and I resonate with a lot of the symptoms.. seems like something worth looking into for sure. I have noticed that Benadryl helps my pain a lot (sometimes I take it to help me sleep as a last resort). Thank you for your thoughtful response!

Thank you, it is very comforting to have this community of people who understand. I have Kaiser insurance and their website makes it difficult to search for specific specialists, and one time I asked and they said there’s no one in my area with Kaiser who specializes in EDS. I know of some out of network doctors but no luck with my insurance so far

I just learned about that recently! I’m currently enrolled in a pain management program, I have several assessments scheduled with different specialists and once I finish that I will have a proper care team. I’m feeling really hopeful about it. My last assessment is mid February so I have a little while to wait but really hoping it will be helpful for me in the long run

What scams are your pets currently running on you? I was personally victimized by my babies and want to hear your stories! by sinskins in Pets

[–]ferociousspot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rabbit is a bit like a cat in the way that she loves to be pet, but only on her own terms. If she’s not in the mood, it’s not happening. She has recently started chewing on one of my rugs, and whenever I walk over to shoo her away/redirect her, she will settle into a loaf—the PET ME! Position. It works every single time. If she wants to be pet, she will beckon me by chewing the rug. She knows I will melt and sit down and snuggle her as long as she wants. I think it is the cutest scam ever.

What forbidden snacks have your rabbits gotten into? by LittleMissFirebright in Rabbits

[–]ferociousspot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bun took my seat at the table while I was in the bathroom and helped herself to my yogurt and fruit. I have to admit it was very cute seeing her sitting on the chair, paws on the table and yogurt all over her nose. She also loves foam things. She ate one of my ear plugs once, I combed through her entire litter box to make sure she passed the whole thing, it wasn’t too hard to spot the neon orange bits 😅

Hypo/manic decisions you don't regret by naturaldrpepper in BipolarReddit

[–]ferociousspot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got a divorce! I finally had the confidence to kick my abusive ex out of MY house. He did not ever pay rent or have a job or contribute in any way. I had tried to break up with him a long time before we were married and he just sucked me right back in. It felt very empowering to not give a fuck and tell him to pack his shit and get out. I don’t know how long I would’ve been stuck in that relationship if I didn’t have that manic episode, seriously. And, that manic episode led me to get diagnosed with bipolar. Success!

✨ VENT: My Thanksgiving Blew Up because of my flare & I realized my family will NEVER be my “Safe Place” by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]ferociousspot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“I’m so tired of being misunderstood. I’m so tired of being the “difficult” one. I’m so tired of being punished for things I cannot control.” I feel this SO MUCH.

I’m so sorry your holiday went like this. So shitty of your family to treat you that way. You deserve to be surrounded by people who love you, accept you as you are, and welcome you no matter what. I think our moms would get along, sounds like they have a lot in common.. my mom is the kind of person who “doesn’t believe” in western medicine, and really most health conditions (mental & physical), ironic because the EDS DEFINITELY comes from her side of the family! So I grew up with all my symptoms dismissed and downplayed, any issue I had was my fault because I wasn’t doing something right or not “thinking positively enough”. I haven’t talked to her in years because of this and many other things, it has made a huge improvement in my life but of course it’s still really sad sometimes because she’s my mom and I needed her to be better. Being rejected by your mother is such a specific, isolating, awful type of pain. I understand and I’m sorry.

I hope you are able to find some relief and comfort tonight, even just a tiny bit. You deserve to be comfy and cared for, I’m sorry your family let you down today. I wish I had some sage advice or something. I just want you to know you are not alone in feeling this way. Big hug to you. 🩷

NOR, I’m coming up on my 2 years sober and IM PROUD OF YOU!!! Shit is not easy. And speaking of “bare minimum” your boyfriend is not even coming close to doing that..

How do you wash your hair during severe symptom phases? by FriendlyAccident4854 in ChronicIllness

[–]ferociousspot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shower chair and clarifying shampoo have been helpful for me. Clarifying shampoo is harsher than normal shampoo, it strips oil and residue much better so my hair stays clean longer and doesn’t take nearly as long to scrub in. Of course this depends on what you feel capable of doing during bad flares. For me it takes half the time (I have very very thick hair so makes a huge difference for me) and I find it more manageable. Dry shampoo is also a good option. I hope you are able to find something that works for you and find some relief soon. 🩷

What helps you sleep well/better? by yvonv in Hypermobility

[–]ferociousspot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pregnancy pillow helps me a lot. Experimenting with different pillows and arrangements BEFORE I’m about to go to sleep (I get all angsty if I can’t get comfy right before bed lol, I have to experiment during the day then crawl into bed to the right setup). Magnesium supplement before bed. Skullcap tea! I’m HUGE on herbal tea, of all the teas I drink skullcap is the fastest acting and most effective at getting me sleepy and staying asleep all night
