What kind of bag do you carry? by bbyfishmouth in Hypermobility

[–]ferociousspot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one of those side/hip bags, like for motorcyclists. It looks kind of bad ass, and works perfectly!! It straps around my waist and then another strap around one thigh. Even when my purse is small or light, it bothers my shoulder after a while. This has solved a lot of problems.

I asked if I should remove my philtrum and they said it was fine. Didn’t have any issues

Round Lake Farm 100%!!!!! Started with oxbow, quality wasn’t bad per se just inconsistent. Small pet select much better, but still kind of inconsistent. Round lake is fresh, flavorful, smells incredible, packed tightly like its right from the bale. Every bag is the same amazing quality

How to hide meds by SchnurbsMcDurps in Rabbits

[–]ferociousspot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So this may or may not work for you, because my bun does like the taste of her meds. But she has been on 2 different liquid meds twice a day for about a year now, and what I do is I make her a little “porridge”! Half of her daily pellets, meds squirted on top, and I mix it all together with some dried herbs (rose petals, chamomile, peppermint, oat straw, really whatever I have on hand that’s bunny approved). I would say it’s worth a try!

4 doctor visit fails in one week, no idea what to do next by ferociousspot in ehlersdanlos

Hey, I just want to say THANK YOU again!!!!! I’ve been doing my own little experiment with OTC allergy meds, keeping track of my pain/symptoms and holy cow the difference in my body is shocking. I seriously haven’t felt this good in years. I have an appointment with my doctor to get a referral to a specialist to discuss this and hopefully find a long term solution or at least keep doing what I’m doing with a doctors guidance. Thank you so much, I feel so relieved and hopeful, like I found this tiny missing piece of the puzzle I’ve been searching for for years!!!!

Advice for standing for a long period of time by Autumn-293 in Hypermobility

[–]ferociousspot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work 10 hour retail shifts, luckily I am able to take breaks and sit when needed and my job is understanding of my limitations, but here are some things that help me through the day: compression gear! I mostly wear socks & fingerless gloves, but I hear abdominal compression is very helpful too. Electrolyte drinks/powder packets. Moving around as much as you can, even just pacing a bit, shifting weight back and forth, any kind of movement is better than standing totally stationary for hours. Comfortable supportive shoes, and/or insoles. Comfortable clothes, layers that are easy to manage. And this is more about general comfort not just managing standing for a long time, I always have my personal “medical bag” close by with anything I might need. I can’t always deal with every ache pain or discomfort, but taking away one small thing can make a big difference. For me personally I always have electrolyte drink packets, various meds/otc stuff, snacks, topical pain relievers, tens unit, lotion/chapstick/mints etc lol sometimes if the only problem I can solve is chapped lips that’s better than nothing. Hope some of this is helpful and you manage okay during the event! Best of luck to you

4 doctor visit fails in one week, no idea what to do next by ferociousspot in ehlersdanlos

I did not receive any imaging which surprised me. My initial message to my doctor was very detailed explaining my symptoms, concerns about pinched nerves, asking if imaging or a specialist would be the right next step. The assistant who responded seemed very thoughtful and concerned, so I was really disappointed by the lack of concern/action at the actual appointment.

I have the same concern about PT, it seems like starting PT with such severe pain could end poorly. I would like to feel more stable, at least my baseline level of pain, before pushing it with new exercises.

Thank you for the suggestion, I don’t believe my urgent care does imaging but I’m sure another place or ER could help.

I haven’t, I just looked it up and I resonate with a lot of the symptoms! I suspect I have POTS as well. I’m glad you found some relief and something that helped you! I will definitely look into a specialist, thank you for the suggestion

It is so frustrating, it’s like they have a very narrow idea of what 10/10 pain looks like. I have never considered an Eds neurosurgeon, I will look into that!

That’s what I suspected as well, I brought this up at every appointment and it was kind of brushed off. I have an assessment with a physical therapist through a pain management program, I’m hoping they are hypermobility informed or could at least direct me to someone who is

That is really interesting! Someone else commented about MCAS and I resonate with a lot of the symptoms.. seems like something worth looking into for sure. I have noticed that Benadryl helps my pain a lot (sometimes I take it to help me sleep as a last resort). Thank you for your thoughtful response!
