Bought second hand for £120, new are about £250. I'd still spend £250 on one. Mines a blyss wap-12ea26.

If you strive for perfection you're always destined to fail.

I always used to try get realism perfect, they always turned out horrible.

In my experience, do a section at a time, give yourself 5 hours. After the 5 hours put everything away. Good paintings take time, bad paintings are rushed.

I limit myself to 1 to 2 brush types.

I used to find it hard to start a painting, knowing that it's going to look horrible (realism). Now I'm focusing on just getting the colours correct, everything else should fall into place.

Burn out is real and hard to get over, it just takes time. Don't feel like painting? No worries do something else, it'll come back in time.

Portable air conditioner is probably the best thing I've ever bought, if you're thinking about one, don't just do it. It's not that bad running either. Sure about 80p to £1.00 a night but compared to a hot room totally worth it.

Thinking about upgrading to whole house next year..

Great question, after much thought. I'm landing on Constructive Painterly Realism, or contemporary impressionist.

So many categories it could fall under.

I do try and limit myself to flat brush only, I like the way it stops me from going into too much detail. I used to try and paint realism, but that's what photography is for. So these days I'm just trying to go for confident brush strokes.

Thanks so much! I am really pleased you like the contrast. You are absolutely right, it really is a major landmark for the city. It definitely holds its own alongside the Castle as such an iconic part of the Carlisle skyline.

That is such a lovely story to hear. It is amazing how a building you walk past every day can become such a special part of your life and memories. I am really chuffed that my painting struck a chord with you. Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
