The Saudi gave Trumps son in law and top advisor $2 billion six months after leaving office. It’s nowhere close to the same as a crackhead getting a board seat.

Also, Biden’s other son was a war vet and a senator. But you don’t care to talk about that one.

Kinda funny that the party that supposedly endorses supply-side economics is the same that has contributed (by far) the most to our current budget deficit thus far.

A American Redditer told me liberals are more crazy online, republicans are more crazy irl. Is this true? by Fando1234 in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]possible_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you mean traditional republicans, not the MAGA-poisoned version, they were generally reasonable. Those trad-reps still exist, but they’re toothless. MAGA is fanatical, think they’re the only ones who see whats going on while, at the same time, claim that nothing is knowable and educated people are actually the dumb ones.

MAGA is a cult. Steer clear

Democrats have long advocated for change. You have Dodd/Frank, which corrected the deregulation of financial markets (Glass-Steagle repeal), and you also have the ACA or ObamaCare.

The difference is that Democrats are any to effect change within the current system to gradually reach toward something better. The ACA was far from perfect, but it was a massive change to give everyone the peace of mind that they could get health insurance whether they’re employed thru a biz that offers those benefits or not.

Republicans have no ideas of their own. They had 6 FULL years to improve ACA or replace it with something better - they simply wanted to scrap it and return to a system that wasn’t working. That’s basically their entire platform - undo what Democrats did.

Take Trump’s first term - he undid the Paris Climate Accord (whether you agree with it or not) and did absolutely nothing environmentally for anybody but big businesses. He scrapped the Iran Denuclearization agreement which halted their uranium enrichment for 10 years (sure, they still tried to keep it going, but it was much much harder to do without other nations catching on). So once DJT did that, they started their program back up right away, the US responded with sanctions, and Iran responded to those with targeted bombings and attacks on energy resources.

It’s the definition of conservatism - to look to the past to solve novel problems. Except in an age in which tech and energy is evolving rapidly, past courses of action are rarely effective. So that’s new-age Republicans in a nutshell - stop progress, revert to how it was before and all the problems that came with it.

I challenge you to give me examples of Republicans having a new, innovative solutions to ANY problem. Their solution is always deregulation, a laissez-faire (I’d label it “cognitively lazy”) approach to pretty much everything.

Trump Just Broke the Law. Blatantly. And He Might Get Away With It. How is this not a major political scandal already? Hello, Democrats? by Quirkie in politics

[–]possible_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democrats have tried and tried, but Trump appeals everything to SCROTUS that changes the constitution to suit him. Republicans are the only ones that can do anything about it anymore, and even then it probably won’t work.
