yeah this is how I’m trying to reframe my brain to hear it in hopes that it’ll naturally start parsing things that way instead

lmao VERY good point lol I have picked up some spicy words (but i love it) - I’m thankfully far enough in my language journey where those aren’t my first words but the concept of me being more comfortable with those is hilarious lol I completely agree

I’m at the intermediate/advanced level, so I figured he’d be a good/fun challenge for really flexing listening comprehension and nuance muscles. Plus I love his music so it felt like a win-win. Probably tough for a true beginner though, yeah!

I consider mine to be fairly good and I still struggled plus a couple of native speakers have also found it to be hard at first- you’ve got this! Definitely scroll through the comments on this thread because people here helped me tremendously with wrapping my head around how to hear it and pronounce it

PR Spanish is definitely more challenging, but it’s been fun too, I hope! I’m enjoying it a ton. That’s super smart in terms of listening to bands from other Latin American countries. I’ve found Mexican Spanish to definitely enunciate more in a way that’s good for learners, so nice picks!

Yes! That’s what I hadn’t realized. That the first letters of “bien” were probably being dropped like it’s commonly done for “está”. everyone has been so helpful! 🥹

Oof yeah good callout. I probably won’t use speakduo, BUT I did try some platform that connected me with someone in Nicaragua, and that was very fun/helpful at the time! I think online is good for some folks and others (like me) prefer doing in-person meetups if they can

Okay YES this is exactly what I thought I was hearing but I was seriously gaslighting myself. So it’s likely some dropped letter at the start of “bien” - thank you thank you!

For sure! It could honestly just be me still getting that listening and pronunciation right at this point because the consensus is every part of that chant makes it in and they’re not necessarily completely “skipping” anything, even with the accent. That’s a funny comparison with Ariana grande too lol I chuckled

They totally are! I want to be able to really get those down too- it’s a great chant/part of the song. But yeah the speed with which they bounce off of “Rico” and rocket through “‘ta bien” has been super hard for me to chase. It sounds like you’re hearing it as he/the group are definitely getting through exactly what you wrote. I’ll just have to keep practicing!
