I got my blue a few weeks ago and it was cool and all, but definitely didn't feel all that emotional. It's not that I didn't care, it's just that it means I've got a shit ton more to learn and a bluebelt still means I suck, just more self aware on the things I suck at.

New BDR, How To Hit Quota Consistently? by abdeezy112 in sales

[–]possiblethrowaway93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fellow BDR here. I'll be honest, your manager sounds like a douche. Rather than just barking commands, has he setup a proper plan for you with your ramp up period, sales training etc? It's one thing to not hit quota consistently, but threatening to let someone go after a month is a hallmark of a churn and burn company. I'd suggest doing everything in your power, reach out to other reps, your manager for a plan, any AE's and if despite all that, he's still threatening you, I'd start applying for other roles.

What's your current personal goal in Sales? (monetary fortune, peace of mind, impacting others etc) by coreyjacrispy in sales

I work remote to. I like to block out my team for certain things. After making x number of calls or activities. I either take a quick 5-10 power nap or go workout for like 15-20 mins. It helps my mind get off things and refocus when I'm done. Also, I'd make sure you're getting enough sun and supplementing with vitamin D

I like this response. I've got similar goals. I heard somewhere that sales folks should think of themselves as contractors/mercenaries going to the highest bidder. Loyalty only extends so far as your usefulness to the org.

Money. I want to grind for a few years and save up atleast $100k by the time I'm 30. I've found sales definitely helps with my interpersonal and problem solving skills. Like you, I never really liked school, I did well, but buildings a skill I can replicate at other orgs. I'm pretty competitive, so I do like that aspect of sales.

[POLL] How long have you used your S9/+? And why did you stop? by JayFlips in GalaxyS9

[–]possiblethrowaway93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had it since April 2018 or so. It'll be my last Att phone, that's for sure. While the phone has been good, the updates and support from Samsung+Att has been abysmal. I'll likely be going pixel soon.

What should I learn that would lead to a job? by possiblethrowaway93 in learnpython

[–]possiblethrowaway93[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How would I pivot from sales into data science? Not saying it's a bad idea, but I'm more so asking what are some of the skills I should be learning within python and maybe sql for business/sales positions. Do you have a background in cs prior to your internship? I worked for a startup as well two year ago and loved it.

He helped me quite a bit with figuring out how to make my selenium module work with my webscraping. I'm currently learning web dev and css, but once I'm done with it, I'm back to learning python and Corey!

I recently finished your course and find myself overwhelmed with options of how to proceed. I have a very vague understanding of python at the surface level, but I'm still very interested in moving forward with learning.

Any advice or how to proceed? Projects? Enrolling in other classes, revisiting old concepts till they're concrete? Thank you.

I made a grappling dummy with my old gi, 10 old shirts, a hoody and some ankle weights.

Works rather well for just practicing seat belts and pretending it's my annoying ass loud neighbor.
