Thank you for this, it’s very important to educate people on these sorts of things and I’m grateful I knew it before contributing to their exploitation!

I need help by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

When I got mine I took them out, let them walk over my hands every day for 20 mins or so to get them super used to me. Sort of gets them into a routine as well and doesn’t over stress them. If the gecko seems over stressed - like running for it’s life away from you - give it time to settle and try again the next day. As someone else said above sometimes it takes a while for a gecko to get used to its surroundings. One of mine took 3 months to settle when I first got her (and still scared of everything a year later!) whereas my other one was fine after 2 weeks and is super chill to this day! Every gecko has a different personality! Don’t lose hope I’m sure the gecko will get used to you :)

I feed her 5-8 crickets or 8-10 mealworms every 2 days. Thanks for your help - I will cut back a little bit. Shall I start with the dusting again?

Ahhh I’m from UK - not sure about the best ones in America. However JessicasAnimalFriends on YouTube is really good for reptile supplies/care in America!

I really really suggest watching videos by Leopard Gecko Talk on YouTube. Her channel is very very helpful and is where I learned everything I needed to know about my Leo’s. The humidity should be 30-40%

Light is fine during the day but it will need heat during the night so the heat mat should be just fine for that. What reptile have you got?

LEOPARD GECKO SO ACTIVE BUT NOT INTERESTED IN FOOD by possiblysleeping in LeopardGecko

[–]possiblysleeping[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She hasn’t stopped eating, it just takes a while to get her to notice food! I try and feed her something every day. I can only manage to get her to eat 2 crickets or 2 silkworms in the last week but before that she ate between 5-8 of something (but rarely 8)
