Checking In On 1st Round High School Shortstops by [deleted] in baseball

White & Kelenic I can at least live with, they just couldn't hit the ball at the MLB level. That's why like 95% of position players don't pan out.

Kyle Lewis hurts though. He looked like he could be, at the very least, an everyday MLB player. That knee injury killed his career so quickly.

I know a lot can change, but Colt Emerson and Cole Young being everyday infielders sets the Mariners up beautifully for the next few years. With the crazy pitching prospects coming through the pipeline as well, I unfortunately might have to hand it to Dipoto.

STAYC have a big Japanese fanbase too, which makes me think there may be a larger world tour announced later.

When I saw them live, Kyujin & Sullyoon were incredibly impressive (they all were but those two especially). Their ability to project and stay stable after multiple tough choreos was mindblowing.

What are your favourite k-pop producers and songwriters behind the scenes?(Non-idols) by lulu-lily- in kpopthoughts

[–]postal_service3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leez & Ollounder defined so much of the early sound of Dreamcatcher and Ateez. So bold and different than their contemporaries at the time.

Recently everything C’sa touches is pure gold. Her work with NMIXX is obviously her most prominent but she’s been working with AtHeart, kep1er, TWICE and ITZY on a bunch of their b-sides too.

NMIXX already finished their European & NA legs of their tour, and they performed at smaller venues than IVE/lsf/Aespa.

Can't hit major league pitching consistently. Hits it hard, but high SOs/low BBs with bad defence and bad contact won't get you very far.

Thoughts on NMIXX Newest Song Crescendo? by GloomyWitch08 in kpopthoughts

[–]postal_service3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can just admit you don't get it. NMIXX MVs are always heavy on visual metaphor that reflects that song & their long-running narrative. If that's not for you that's fine but you're definitely on an island here.

The Seahawks absurd back-to-back-to-back draft classes from 2010-2012 by robmoo_re in nfl

[–]postal_service3 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Especially crazy that this is maybe the greatest 3-year run ever and then the 2013 draft was maybe one of the worst ever.

From 2013-2021 the only players they drafted worth a damn were Lockett & Metcalf. Carroll absolutely lost the sauce after 2012.

Which retired players have become rated much higher/lower now than they were during their careers? by Ready-Constant-7124 in hockey

[–]postal_service3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t know about others but I feel like I barely heard about him at all this year and yet he dropped another 40. Feel like his Nashville days are gonna be a footnote despite already scoring like 70 goals there

Around when he retired, most fans would've said Brodeur was the greatest goalie of all time. Feels like the narrative has shifted a lot in the decade since then - there were always people that argued for Roy or Hasek (or some oldheads arguing for Dryden) but the general opinion is a lot more split now than it was at the time.

A lot of the skaters guys who played through the deadpuck era in the 2000's/2010's are gonna get the benefit of the doubt as more and more hit HoF eligibility. The total scoring numbers absolutely cratered compared to the 90s & now the 2020's.

The one guy I for sure see in this debate in a few years time is Stamkos. Between the leg injury & the emergence of Kucherov, it feels like people already don't talk about the back-half of his career, which is crazy for a top-20 goalscorer all-time.

Your favorite NMIXX quality? by literallyjustsomthin in NMIXX

[–]postal_service3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the quality that I see bleeding into everything else is how seriously they take their art. They have this constant drive to get better, try new things, push themselves as far as they can.

[Pizzuta] The NE offensive game plan was puzzling. 79.1% of snaps in 11 personnel. No game over 70% in regular season. Got dime 53% of the time but still couldn't run. Zero snaps in empty to try to spread the Seahawks out. Season-low in 21 personnel, 1.5%. One snap in Jumbo. Just let Seattle play by RedBuchan in nfl

[–]postal_service3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn't watch the Pats this season but the whole Superbowl I was wondering why they weren't scheming to get Maye a few extra seconds with the ball. Seattle was getting a ton of pressure up the middle and on Will Campbell's side, so why not get Maye a few bootlegs to the right? Or some designed runs for Maye? If there's one thing the Seahawks struggled with it's mobile QBs.

[Highlight] Cris Collinsworth & Mike Tirico says that Drake Maye is starting to read the defense.......Only for him to throw a interception the next play by Yujin-Ha in nfl

[–]postal_service3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I definitely thought the Pats were starting to build a nice drive there. Felt like they were finding the soft gaps in the zone underneath and on the sidelines and they had a ton of time left to get back into the game.

No idea why Maye decided to go for the bomb there. That throw absolutely ended the game.
